OBITUARY: The Tonkawa News, Thursday, June 9, 1960. John Calvin Boyles - Funeral
services for John Calvin Boyles, 92, pioneer settler of Oklahoma, were held today
at 10:30 a.m. at the Tonkawa Bible Church and at 3 p.m. in the first Christian
Church of Okeene. Mr. Boyles died at 12:05 a.m. at his home, 306 N. Ninth.
Mr. Boyles was born Sept. 3, 1967, at Charlotte, Michigan, and moved to the
Okeene area in 1895 where he farmed for 45 years. He has been a resident of
Tonkawa since August, 1944. On May of this year, Mr. and Mrs. Boyles observed
their 71st anniversary. Rev. Frank Scholte, pastor of the Tonkawa Bible Church,
officiated at this morning's services. Arrangements were made by the McCafferty
Funeral Home. Rev. Don Heath officiated at the Okeene rites held this afternoon.
Burial was in the Collins Cemetery, near Okeene, by the Keller-Landes Funeral
Home of Okeene. Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers. Survivors
include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Boyles of the home, and four daughters, Mrs. Florence
Fergerson of Okeene, Mrs. Dora Martin of Enid, Mrs. Fern Kenney of Redonda Beach,
California, and Mrs. Edith White of Tonkawa, and one son, Frank M. Boyles of
Upland, California, and numerous grandchildren. He was married to Minnie MALONE
in May 1889.
3. Minnie MALONE
(2) was born on Jun 6 1864 in Manitowoc,
Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. She died on Aug 3 1962 in Tonkawa, Kay County,
Oklahoma. She was buried on Aug 6 1962 in Collins Cemetery, Okeene, Blaine County,
Oklahoma. OBITUARY: The Tonkawa News, Monday August 6, 1962. Mrs. Minnie M.
Boyles - Funeral services were held this morning at the Tonkawa Bible Church
for Mrs. Minnie M. Boyles, 98, who died at her home, 306 North Ninth Street,
Friday night. Mrs. Boyles's husband John died in 1960 and the couple had celebrated
their 71st wedding anniversary before his death. She had been a resident of
Tonkawa since 1944 when she and her husband moved here from Okeene. Mrs. Boyles
was born June 6, 1864 in Manitowoc, WI, and came to Oklahoma at the age of 30
from Brookville, Kansas. She had been in poor health for the past several months.
Survivors are four daughters: Mrs. Dora Martin of Enid, Mrs. Florence Fergerson
of Okeene, Mrs. Fern Kenney of Redonda Beach, California, and Mrs. Edith White
of Tonkawa, and one son, Frank M. Boyles of Punta Gorda, Florida. The Rev. Al
Whitter officiated at the services with the McCaggerty-Bolick Funeral Home in
charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held this afternoon at the Collins
Cemetery near Okeene, under the direction of the Keller-Landis Furneral Home.
