At the age of 16, Amos McKinstry took up arms in defense of the Colon ies, serving for a time as a militiaman, and as such, took part in th e battles of Bunker Hill, Seige of Boston, and other engagements. O n March 10,1777, he enlisted in the regular army being assigned to th e 15th Mass. reg. of Cpt., Adams Martins co., with whom he served unt il March 10th, 1780. When he was honorably dishcharged.
