In 1902 he purchased the interests of his partner and in 1903, after the fire which destroyed the plant of the Plainview News, the two papers were consolidated and he became sole owner of the present publication. came to Wabasha County from Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in the company of
Frank L. Meachum in the spring of 1857. He was known as one of the most prosperous
farmers and stock-raisers in the county. At first, Joseph settled on a claim
on section 3 in Elgin township which he later sold and purchased and moved nearby
a 240 acre farm.
After 1880, he engaged extensively in the dairy and stock-raising business, and, in partnership with Frank Meachum, in the buying and shipping of live stock. Joseph was a democrat in politics and was a charter member of Plainview Lodge No. 63, A.F.A.M. Sixteen children were born of this union: eight boys and eight girls. Parents: Isaac P. MARSHALL and Isabel WILSON.
