Eddie's Soaring Eagle

This page is under construction at this time. I will be working to put Eddie's picture and favorite things to do along with events that are his alone. He is my oldest son and the middle child. Please feel free to email me with suggestions, comments or if you find any errors as no one is perfect.

Eddie has loved Eagles since he was a youngster. His dad was in the U.S. Navy for four years and had an eagle tatooed on his arm. So Eddie has been collecting eagles of all types for many years. I made a ceramic eagle in 1975 with wings spread and claws extended as it was leaving a tree stump searching for prey. This is one item that Eddie has requested his dad to leave him as his inheritance.

Other hobbies that he enjoys are fishing and camping. He started working with his dad in the family business when he was 9 years old. He was a gopher on the construction crew which meant that he had to fetch and carry anything that the guys needed. His first pay check was for $10.00 which he spent in one day. After that time, we made him put half in savings and he could spend the rest. At the age of 14 years, he could run the crew himself. However, it was hard for older people to take orders from a teenager so he did not do much supervising until a few years later. Now, Eddie and his brother, Jason run the crew and their dad and mom get the jobs and do the paper work end of the business. What is really strange is that Eddie's son, Nathan, is now working when he has summer vacation and holidays from high school. Nathan just celebrated his 17th birthday in November.

Another thing that Eddie did as a youngster was have a fasination with snakes and this comes from the stories that his dad told about having a black king snake in his room when he was a teenager. Of course, all Eddie's book reports were done on snakes until the teachers caught on, then he did them on football players.

You guess it! His other love was football from the time he was 9 years old. He played on the Little League Pee Wee and older teams through 6th grade. He played from 7th grade to 12th grade in the school district games. He was on the offensive and defensive teams playing both ways and most of each game. He was the center all those years ending his 11th and 12th grade seasons as All-District Center which was a unanimous vote of all team coaches. He was also listed as the top Center by the Dallas Times Hearld for those years.

In 1993, Eddie married Shannon and they have 3 children, Nathan, Joe and Shyanne. These kids are as active as Eddie was in school. Nathan plays the trombone and tube in the band and is on the high school soccer team as goalie. Joe plays Little League (does this sound like it has happened before) and Youth Basketball. Shyanne is the youngest and only girl who spends her time working on her gymnastic skills so she can compete at American Cheer Power Competitions across Texas. Shannon works as a substitute teacher with the school district. Eddie and his family are very active in their church. In a few weeks, the church will have their living Christmas Tree and the whole family will be taking part with either being in the choirs or doing an acting part.
