Letter I received from the Roger Williams Association:

October 30, 2000
Dear Jane Peppler,
How fortunate that you descend from a David Williams - a name not common in
the Williams clan. I was able to pick up the line on my first try.
Your descent from Roger Williams is through his son Daniel, who married widow
Rebecca (Rhodes) Power.
Their son was: Joseph, d. 4 March 1739, mar. Sarah Whitman, dau. of Valentine
and Sarah (Bartlett) Whitman, born 26 Jan 1696, died 29 Oct. 1749. They were
married 19 Feb 1716 and lived in Scituate RI.
They had: Benoni, born 15 Nov. 1716, died 11 July 1782, Scituate RI. He mar.
Abigail Smith (dau. of John), 8 July 1739.
They had: Benoni, Jr. born 16 Nov. 1745, died 2 Nov. 1817, mar. Amey Bennett
(dau. of Joseiah), 13 Sept. 1779. He was editor of "The Impartial Observer,"
1802, the first Republican newspaper in RI.
They had: David, born 25 March 1780, died 4 June 1861, Boston MA; mar 20 March
1803 Cynthia Williams, born 11 Nov. 1779, died 10 Aug. 1864.
Their children, including Ann Elizabeth, born 1809, died 19 Dec 1845. All the
above is from "Roger Williams of Providence, Rhode Island," Vol. I, compiled
by Bertha Williams Anthony and Harriett W. Weeded, published 1949. Mrs.
Anthony was a longtime Registrar of the association.
The only children of David and Cynthia who are carried further are those of
Cynthia Ann (1814-1897) who mar. George Wilson Nichols. They had Ann Homer
Nichols (1846-1926) who mar. Walter H. Tenney and had Walter Harris Tenney,
Maude Tenney, Winthrop P. Tenney and Susan Tenney who m. an Edwards.
I am enclosing an application in case you are interested in joining the
association.
It was a pleasure to be able to answer your query as I get so many that don't
seem to fit in anywhere.
Sincerely,
Elsie B. Williams, Registrar
Roger Williams Society
