I have not actually made any progress finding the parents of Peter Fuhrman. He does not appear to be part of the family of York's Stefan Fuhrman though he appears among them for most of his life. Recently I have been wondering whether he might have been the son of Peter and Katy Foreman (Fuhrman) of just across the border in Maryland. There were earlier Fuhrmans in York County, along with Stefan: Leonard Furhman, about whom almost nothing is known; and Andreas Fuhrman, whose name is crossed off on the warrant next to Stephens and Leonard's is written in, instead. Andrew went to Berwick Township where his name became consistently recorded as FOREMAN. He had five daughters and one son Peter. Both Andrew and Peter were in the Revolutionary War, and moved to Franklin County late in the 1780s. Email me for more information about their family.
Generation No. 1
1. Peter4 Fuhrman (Peter3 Foreman, Andrew Andreas Fuhrman2, ()1 Fuhrman) was born Abt. 1794 in Manheim Twp, York, Pennsylvania, and died April 1835 in Manheim Twp, York, PA. He married Elizabeth Rohrbach Abt. 1816, daughter of Johannes Rohrbaugh and Susanna Huber.
Peter Fuhrman first appears in the Manheim tax list of 1814-1815 as a single man (making his birth date around 1793). He is not in the 1815-1816 list but is married and listed in Manheim 1816-1817. Then he moved to Shrewsbury where he is found as a miller with one cow: 1819, 1820, 1822, 1823. Enumerated in the Shrewsbury census of 1820:
Peter Fuhrman 200100-00010 (Valentine, George, and Henry close by)
In 1823 after death of father-in-law Johannes Rohrbach, bought brother-in-law Christian's interest in Manheim properties and went back there (I'm guessing, working his widowed mother-in-law's 80 acres).
Found Manheim Township in 1825-26 (from tax list) and on until his death in 1835. He never seems to have owned land.
1830 census, Manheim: Peter Fuhrman 0011001-220012001
1830: Adam (Codorus), David, Jacob, John, and Valentine also in Manheim

My sister went to Shaffer's Church cemetery and was able to confirm that Samuel F. Markel (my great-grandfather) was indeed the son of William Markel and Sarah Fuhrman Markel (also parents of Amanda Markel Kessler). He is buried right beside them with the same type grave stone. For your records his date of birth was December 18, 1862 and he died in a fall from a roof on July 7, 1895. He was married to Sarah Alice Saltzgiver (born 1865 and died 1954). She remarried a man named Case and she is buried next to Samuel. Her headstone reads S. Alice Case. There were also several babies that said son or daughter of William and Sarah buried there. Samuel and Sarah Markel had I believe 6 children (1 girl and 5 boys). My grandmother was the girl (Lillie May Markel), born May 29, 1885 in Codorus Township, York County, Pa, baptized by Reverend Ketterman on July 12, 19=885.
