| MISCELLANEOUS CARROLL COUNTY SIGHTINGS | Leonhart Foreman sells land (part of Hockstadt Enlarged, beginning of my family's holdings in Bachman Valley) to Conrad Hileman in 1786. He somehow got it from Stophil Decker who got it from Rudolph Decker, one of the original owners. How? I don't think he is the (presumably English) Leonard Foreman b 1758 who was a Rev War pensioner from Anne Arundel County.

| Fuhrman family of Deep Run Road (north of Bachman Valley Road) posted by Roger Nale | My Nail family lived on land located on Deep Run Road in present day Carroll County, MD. Other land owners in the area were Lingenfelter, Trump, Lippy, Banker(t) and Shriver.
In the "Settlement of final account of Daniel Nail, March 20, 1830" there is this reference: "To Mary Slider, Frederick Trump, Susanna Furman, Rachael Furman, David Furman & Lydia Furman Children of testators Sister Louisa each 2.77 1/3". This Louisa could also have been known as Lovice or Lovesa. I also have the following information: "Inscription from old cemetery at St. Mary's Church, Silver Run, MD. "FOREMAN Lovesa d/ 11 Oct 1852 @ 78y.1m.19d". I hope you might have some information which would shed some light on who the husband of Louisa Nail might have been and something of his family. |

Jacob was our g g g g grandfather.]
Jacob Foreman was listed on page 108 in Volume 18 of "Archives of Maryland - Muster Rolls and Other Records of Service of Maryland Troops in the American Revolution 1775-1778", as having served from June 1780 to 16 Aug 1780, with a rank of Pvt & Cpl. Daniel, Jacob, and John Foreman, were all listed as Pvts., from the New Windsor area, all having served in the War of 1812 from 22 Jul 1814 to 10 Jan 1815. Jacob also served earlier from 1 May 1813 to 5 Jul 1813. "Frederick County Militia in the War of 1812" by Sallie A. Mack and F. Edward Wright, 1992, page 117. There were other listings for these same persons in the various Company musters. [Presently I am not sure whether this John could have been Johann Peter Foreman or some other Foreman Family relative. Jacob Sr. had died by this time, so that the Jacob listing was no doubt for Jacob Jr.] |

If you take a look at a PA map you can soon see that is Trappe, PA located on old Rte 422 just west of Collegeville, while my Jacob lived probably less than 10 miles due north of Trappe on old Cow Path Road (present day Rte 463) in Hatfield Twp. Other FUHRMAN Familes lived just a couple of miles west of my Jacob along the same road in the Souderton, Telford area of Franconia Twp. Even to this day there is a "Forman Road" in Franconia Twp. The other Jacob FUHRMAN who was listed in the 1743 Franconia Twp tax lists came to America in ~1710 via New York State and never had any sons named Jacob according to all of the available records. He died along about 1750. Furthermore he only had grand-daughters, no grandsons. There was a FUHRMAN Private Cemetery on this other Jacob's farm that reportedly had up to 200 burials, but was no more than a plowed field by 1926, and virtually no surviving records of burials or tombstone inscriptons. |
