The first record of Adam Voltz/Foltz (the name was later standardized to Fultz) in York County was a tax list of 1765, the year there is a record of a birth of his first son (probably), Johan George. His first wife was Elizabeth - possibly Neu or Kaltrider according to the York Heritage Society.
Adam was taxed in Manheim Township by 1772. He warranted 60 acres 3/18/1775. He was a private in George Hoovers Revolutionary War battalion, mustered in Codorus Township in 1776, and a member of Capt John Shearer's Co, 5th battallion York 1780 (PA Archives series 6 vol 11 or 2 - 525, 609, 660, 678, 691). Don Howard (firstname.lastname@example.org)has entered the Sons of the American Revolution on the Adam Fultz line.
Adam married a second time, to an Anna Maria, by about 1781. In 1783 he was taxed on 7 inhabitants, 60 acres, 4 cattle, 1 horse, 1 house, 1 outhouse. He appears in 1784, 1785, 1786, 1787 and 1790 census. The last appearance in Codorus Township of York County was in 1792 when he was listed with two horses, two cows, 70 acres, and an oilmill. Adam had moved to Cumberland County (now Perry) by 1809, according to the History of Perry County, Wheatfield Township (page 81): "land between Pine Hill and Sherman Creek was patented by Samuel Funk in 1805. He soon sold it to John Minich who sold it to Adam Fultz in 1809."
1810 Census of Cumberland County, Rye Township, page 13;
Adam Fultz, male 0 - 15 = 2, males 15 and up = 3, females = 2.
Henry Fultz, male 0 - 15 = 1, males 15 and up = 1, females = 2.
Adam Foltz died in 1816 in Rye Township - his burial place is unknown.WILL OF ADAM FOLTZ

Johannes Foltz was the son of Adam Foltz of Codorus Township in York and his birth is recorded at St. Jacob's (Stone) Union Church: Johannes Voltz of Adam and Elisabeth, born October 13, 1771. (Adam Foltz was in the Revolutionary War and patented 60 acres of land in Codorus, but nothing else is known of him or his wife.)
John Foltz first appears in the 1798 general assessment: John Felts in the North Hundred on 2 acres, in a hewed log dwelling house, 2 story, 18x16. He was a single man. If there is a a deed for these two acres, either bought or sold, I cannot find it in Baltimore or Frederick deed indexes.
John's marriage to Annamaria must have taken place between 21 June 1801, when "Conrad Heilmann, wife An. Mar., and An. Mar. Heilmann, single" took communion, and 11 Oct 1801, when "Conrad Heilmann, wife An. Mar, John Foltz, wife An. Mar." and "Cathr Folzin, single" took communion. Catharine Elisabetha Foltz, John's sister, was born October 10, 1777; she is several times listed as an unmarried congregant at Zion Church.
John's tombstone indicates he had only two children. They were my ancestor, Anna Mary "Polly" Foltz, who married Michael Wilson, and Sarah Foltz, who married Michael D. G. Pfeiffer of Adams County.
In Bachman Valley Church records, John and Anna Maria Foltz sponsor the birth of Anna Margarethe Hauser, d/o Friedrich and Catharine Hauser, 25 Oct 1803. Another daughter of Friedrich and Catharine, Susannah, later marries Polly Fultz's brother-in-law Henry Wilson.
John Fultz is in the 1804 tax list on part of Gotham and Hockstadt. In 1813 tax list I found Frederick Heiser and Conrad Heileman on same, but not John. In a deed dated 1807, John is described as being "of Washington County," perhaps a red herring.
A card at the York Heritage Trust indicates that this John Foltz was in the War of 1812 - his family must have applied for burial assistance - but no pension record has been found. After the war, John Foltz was relatively prosperous; the 1823 Assessment records for Baltimore County Elec. Dist 3 shows John Fultz with 194 Acres, part Hogstead and Gotham (lands of his father-in-law Conrod), $60 of improvements, one slave; in 1833 there were $200 improvements, 1 male slave, 4 horses 12 cattle 8 hogs total wealth $2,428. By 1837 there were $380 of improvements.
John Foltz died at 66 years 3 days on Oct 16 1837 and is buried at St David's in Manheim.WILL OF JOHN FOLTZ SR.Anna Mary lived on until 1867; she lived with her grandson John Fultz Jr.
