Joseph C. Lane was born on 31 May 1757 in Crompond, Westchester County, New York
to Joseph Lane and Aletha Knapp. He married Hilliche Van Kleeck
on 21 Oct 1784. They had four children Jane, William, Gilbert,
and Leanna.
Joseph served in the Revolutionary War as a private in the
- Dutchess County Militia - Associated Exempts
- under Col. Zephaniah Platt and Capt. Thomas Lee
- Dutchess County Militia - Second Regiment
- under Col. Abraham Brinkerhoff and Capt. Johannes Schutt
- AKA: Brinkerhoff's Regiment
- Dutchess County Militia - Sixth Regiment
- under Col. Samuel Drake and Capt. John Drake
Joseph died on died on 4 July 1839 in Catskill, Greene County, New York.
