HENDERSON TN - - Mr and Mrs Frank Seaton and Mr and Mrs Wylie Johnson have several things in common.
Both couples recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Although they have different addresses - Route 2 Pinson TN for the Johnsons and Route 1, Henderson TN for the Seatons - they live within one mile of each other, and have spent their lives in the same community - New Friendship. Mr and Mrs Seaton have spent more than 50 years in the same house.
Mr and Mrs Seaton (she is the former Miss Cora Peddy) have 10 living children with six of those living in the same community. Their children's occupations are varied, with two farmers, two industrial workers, a long haul truck driver, electrical engineer, two teachers and housewives.
One of their daughters, Mrs Carmon Johnson, is married to the only son of Mr and Mrs Johnson. Their other children are sons Willard, Hubert and F. L. Jr, all of Henderson TN, George of San Bernandino CA and Joe Neal of Memphis TN. Their daughters are, besides Mrs Johnson, Mrs Cleo Sells, Mrs Murray Webb and Mrs Joe Talley, all of Henderson, and Mrs Guy Frix of Memphis TN. Another daughter, Mrs Clara Moody died in 1958. They also proudly claim 23 grandchildren and 11 great - grandchildren.
Mr and Mrs Johnson (she is the former Miss Vestie Jordan) have one daughter, Mrs Chester Stewart of Henderson, in addition to their son, Carmon. Although they do not have as many grandchildren as the Seatons, they are proud of their three grandchildren and one great grandson.
The ages of these four people totals 314 years, 81 for Mr Seaton and 78 for his wife and 80 for Mr Johnson and 75 for Mrs Johnson.
Since Mr and Mrs Johnson's family is nearby they enjoyed having them for this happy occasion. However, Mr and Mrs Seaton's children were with them too with the exception of George, who lives so far away that he can not come as often as the others.
