PAVEY, MARGARET E.


PORT HURON, MI

Margaret E. Pavey, 68 of Port Huron Twp. MI passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. She was born to Quentin and Mary Ryckman on February 26, 1939 in Forester, MI.

In her early years, Margaret worked as an airline attendant for American Airlines. She then lived in San Mateo, CA briefly while working for Morton Salt Co. Upon returning to the Port Huron area, she met and married Richard L. “Dick” Pavey on August 6, 1976. She enjoyed working outside in her yard.

She is survived by an uncle, Edward (Marianne) Gehring of Harbor Beach; two aunts, Grace E. Gehring of Bad Axe and Maggie Gehring of Bridgeport; and several cousins including a special cousin, John Gehring of Bad Axe.

She was preceded in death by her father, Quentin (June 11, 2004) her husband, Dick (May 22, 2006), and her mother, Mary, (Jan. 2, 2007).

A memorial service in Margaret’s memory will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The little ones aged 10, 6, & 3 yrs. only 1 child of the family remains - the eldest, a son, who has lived with H. Aldrich of S. Winter St.

Clyde Peavey, 81, of Bronson, Mich., died Oct. 13, 2008, in Bronson as a result of injuries sustained in an auto/pedestrian accident.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at West Girard Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Kolcz Funeral Home of Bronson.

LAKELAND, FLA---Edgar Lee Peavey, 80, of Lakeland , Fla., formerly of Lenawee County, died Wednesday Dec. 30, 1998, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1918, in Adrian, to Frank W. and Carrie (Kridler) Peavey. Edgar served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Viola Chatelaine and she survives him. Edgar had been employed by the Lenawee County Road Commission for 20 years.

In addition to his wife, Viola, he is survived by three sons; Malcolm J. Peavey of Jacksonville, Fla, Michael J. Peavey of Lansing, and Martin J. Peavey of Lakeland, Fla; four daughters, Gloria A. Peavey of Jacksonville, Fla, Linda L Peavey of Lansing, Rose M. Gamm of Minnesota and Kathleen J. Peavey of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Graveside military services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at the Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian conducted by Annia-Fint VFW Post 1584. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Home.

Peavey, Kathleen Rena of Gladwin, Michigan, age 47, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 22, 2010.

She was born on June 2, 1962 in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of Donald R. & Phyllis M.(Griebel) Kingry. She married Robert C. Peavey Sr. on June 8, 1984 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was owner of K.P. Ashphalt Service, Gladwin. She had lived in Gladwin County for the last 19 years, previously residing in Saginaw and was a member of the Wooden Shoe Big Boys Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Peavey Sr. of Gladwin; 3 children: Robin (Fred) Dietzel of Saginaw; Robert Jr. (Wendy) Peavey also of Saginaw; Theresa Peavey of Bridgeport. Their children gave them 11 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild. Also surviving, mother, Phyllis Kingry of Gladwin. She has 2 brothers: Donald (Cindy) Kingry & Ronald Kingry and 1 sister, Belinda (Rick) Mosher. She has many nieces & nephews as well as great nieces & great nephews. Preceding her in death is her father, Donald Raymond Kingry in February, 1993.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, February 25, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 5-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kenneth L. Peavey, Sr., 79, of Gladwin MI died March 21, 2005 at Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Community following a short illness.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio on Feb. 1, 1926. He was a Ford Truck Driver with American Seating in Grand Rapids, retiring after 25 years. He lived in Gladwin County since 1998, having previously resided in Saginaw.

Surviving are his children, Robert (Kathy) Peavey of Gladwin, Linda (Rick) Remmert of Midland, Larry (Theresa) Peavey of Woodland, David (Barb) Peavey of Freemont, Karen Barker of Petoskey, Kenneth Peavey, Jr. of South Carolina, and Crystal Peavey of Arizona; 15 grandchildren and 16 Great grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna (Edward) Smith of Columbus, Georgia and Wilma (Erwin) Eldrid of Rockford, Michigan. He was predeceased by two sons, John and Richard, and one daughter, Debbie.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were by Hall Funeral Home of Gladwin.

KALAMAZOO, MI.

Lenard W. Peavey, 53, of Quincy, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. He was born Oct. 27, 1957 in Coldwater to Wayne and Sarah (Irwin) Peavey. Lenard was a commercial painter.

Survivors include daughter Jennifer Peavey (Matt Gleason) of Coldwater, son Christopher (Crystal) Peavey of Coldwater, sisters Linda Nighswander of Coldwater, Diana Parks of Frazeysburg, Ohio and Ruth (Roy) Houck of Orland, Ind., brother Claude Peavey of Coldwater and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Peavey and sister Tereasa Marie Peavey.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Quincy, with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Quincy. Lyle E. Peavey, age 72, of Battle Creek, formerly of Bronson, died early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2009, at the Manor Nursing Home in Battle Creek. He had been in failing health.

Age, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 24, 2010 at Magnum Health care in Albion. Marjorie was the first daughter born to Claude and Ruth (Zeller) Peavey on January 9, 1920 in Branch County. On July 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Emery Traver who preceded her in death June 9, 2009. There were no children born of this union but their family was the many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews which they enjoyed, Family was very important to them and they loved them dearly.

She graduated from Coldwater High School and a nursing school in Oklahoma as a registered nurse. In her earlier years she did private duty nursing in homes. She was a member of the Coldwater Free Methodist Church and after moving to Albion became a member of the Albion Free Methodist Church. She held many offices in church and she attended Free Methodist camp meeting for many years. In her spare time she liked to garden and her later years did some cake decorating. She spent many hours with her Bible, Gods word, and loved to cook, bake, read, and embroidery work. Although Marjorie has departed this Life, she will always live in the hearts of all who knew her and loved her. She is survived by two sisters Jeanette Dauber of Newaygo; Frances Roe of Battle Creek; 2 Brothers Kenneth (Harriet) Peavey of White Cloud; Donald (Doris) Peavey who has a orphanage in Dessalines, Haiti; and Brother in law Hylen Traver of Coldwater. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Peavey.

Visitation for Family and Friends was on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., at Albion Free Methodist Church, 1014 Maple Street, Albion. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Robert Bolton officiating. Burial: Albion Memory Gardens Cemetery, Albion Township, MI. Marjorie W. Young, 80, of Elkton, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Sunny Acres Nursing Center while under hospice care with her family at her side.

She was born onDecember 30, 1924 in Jackson to the late Alfred and Lulu (Van Epps) Peavey. On February 24, 1941, she was united in marriage to Louis A. Gottschalk in Jackson and farmed west of Bad Axe for 32 years. They parted in 1973 and Louis died of cancer on August 28, 1983. Marge married Milton Young on March 11, 1974 in Bad Axe and they farmed south of Elkton many years.

She was a member of the Colfax Methodist Church, past president of the Huron County Historical Society from 1968 to 1974, and a member of the Elkton Historical Society.

Marge enjoyed gardening, canning her vegetables and loved fishing. She also had a lot of fun growing, selling and giving away pumpkins from her pumpkin farm at Halloween.

She is survived by her husband, Milton; two sons,Ronald Gottschalk and his wife, Harriet, of Hastings, Florida, Samuel Gottschalk and his wife, Susan, of Elkton; daughter, Gloria LeJeune and her husband, William, of Bad Axe; daughters-in-law, Sue Gottschalk and Bonnie Gottschalk, both of Bad Axe; 13 grandchildren, Marsha, Lori, Kimberly, Bill, Bob, Jennifer, Todd, Chrystal, Denise, Cheryl, Kim, Jim and Morgan; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Norris Peavey, of Lakeworth, Florida; and three sisters, Maxine Kettel, of Barryton, Monabelle Bryant, of Granite City, Illinois, and Jeanette Hall, of Monti, Utah.

Preceding her in death are four sons, Louis Jr., Ralph, John and Alvin Gottschalk; and two sisters, Mildred Ellenwood and Marion Brookins.

As she requested, private visitation and funeral services will be conducted at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Elkton. The Rev. Richard Shuart will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Elkton. Expressions of sympathy may be extended at www.cfcElkton.com. DETROIT---Mildred Peavey, 65, of Detroit, formerly of Adrian died yesterday at Botsford Hospital, Farmington, where she had been a patient for a short time.

She was born May 7, 1911 in Raisin Center, the daughter of Leila and Harvey Gallaway.She married Herbert Peavey of Adrian on Feb. 13, 1929. He survives.

The couple lived in Adrian until 1945 when they moved to Detroit.

Also surviving are a son, Duane of Westland; a daughter, Suzanne Stewart of Canton Center;a sister, Eva Houck of Westland; a brother, Lloyd Gallaway of Adrian; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Services will be 1 p.m Saturday at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home 15450 Plymouth Road, Detroit.

Death of the Father of A. Peavey, on West Maumee Street

Moses Peavey, aged 75 May 5 last, died at 4 o'clock this morning, at the home of his son.

A. Peavey, the West Side Grocer on Maumee Street, from pneumonia. Deceased was born in New Hampshire, and came to Adrian from Kansas about two years ago making his home in the rooms over the grocery.

He leaves a wife and six children. The children are Alonzo A., of Division Street; Mrs. Christ Huff, Charles F. Peavey of Deerfield, A. Peavey, of West Maumee Street, P. M. Peavey of Wichita, Kas., and George M. Peavey of Ann Arbor.

The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, from A. Peavey's home.

Opal C. Peavey, 89, of Adrian, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Lenawee Medical Care

She was born June 13, 1910, in Oxford, Mich., the daughter of Nelson John and Lena Clella (Sweet) Briggs. On June 28, 1929, she married Kenneth James Peavey in Wauseon, Ohio. He preceded her in death in November 1980.

Opal was a homemaker whose family was very important to her. She enjoyed gardening and making afghans for her grandchildren. Opal was a member of the First Baptist Church of Adrian. She was also a member of the Rebekah Circle and the UAW Retirees.

Surviving Opal are her children, Joyce (Richard) Atkin of Addison, Joanne (Don) Dart of Batavia, N.Y., Nadlyn (Frank) Scire of Adrian and Don (Joan) Poling, who was like a son, also of Adrian. Also surviving is a sister, Helen Meyers of Brooklyn, and 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Kenneth, Opal was preceded in death by her son, Norman Peavey in November 1953, and a sister, Ila Weatherby.

Funeral services for Opal will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffrey Koglin officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Robert, Bob, L.Peavey, 64 of Coldwater MI died Monday March 12, 2007 at the Community Health Center of Branch Co. He was born March 18, 1942 in Branch Co., MI to Charles E.and Nina L. Crapo Peavey.

Life long resident of Branch Co., MI he graduated from Coldwater High School in 1961. Bob was an avid bowler at Midway Lanes in Coldwater. He enjoyed going to McDonald’s for breakfast with his friends and going to movies. He will be remembered for his great passion for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Bob retired from Darling International formerly Coldwater Rendering, and he also worked at Midwest Foundry.

Survivors include his children, Patrick Peavey of Battle Creek, MI, LeAnn Karn of North Adams, MI, Brian Peavey of St. Louis, MO, Amanda Peavey of Greenville, MI, Kimberly VanHorn of Coldwater, MI, and Kyle Peavey of Bronson, MI, 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, brothers Clyde Peavey and Lyle Peavey both of Bronson, MI, Stanley Peavey of Pontiac MI, sister Edna Vaughn of Girard, MI, several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Ross Peavey, and Russell Peavey.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 15, 2007 at the Gillespie Funeral Home. Burial will be at West Girard Cemetery in Girard, MI. Visitation will be held Wed. Milton L. “Mick” Doan, age 76, of Holland, died after a long battle with heart disease Monday, August 11, 2008, at Hospice House of Holland.

He was born and raised in Adrian, MI. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1952. He married Lois Peavey on August 10, 1957. He was a draftsman for many years, and retired from Brazeway Aluminum in 1991. In 1996 he moved to Holland to be closer to family. Mick was also an avid billiards player.

Milton was preceded in death by grandchildren, Maggie, Dane, and Cara Scheuerman; brothers, Charles, Harold, Kenneth, and Russell; sisters, Helen Stillwagon, Ruth Mellinger, Marie Dunbar, and Mae Siebenaler.

His family includes his wife of 51 years, Lois Doan; daughter, Cheryl and Dan Scheuerman of Zeeland; son, Corey Doan of Holland; four grandchildren, Courtney, Drew, Cristina, Taylor Scheuerman; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting will be from 7-9 Thursday, August 14, 2008, at The Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Life Story Funeral Home, 295 Douglas Ave. and also 6 - 8 Friday, August 15, 2008 at The Anderson Funeral Home in Adrian, MI. Family burial services will be in Palmyra Township Cemetery.

Ralph E. Gottschalk, 56, life-long resident and farmer of Colfax Township, Bad Axe, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, due to a farm accident.

He was born May 5, 1945, in Bad Axe to the late Louis August Gottschalk Sr. and Marge (Peavey) Young.

Mr. Ralph Gottschalk and Miss Bonnie Parker were united in marriage on March 31, 1973.

He was a graduate of Bad Axe High School, class of 1963.

Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Bare Acres "Ponderosa" deer hunt club.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; one son, Todd Gottschalk, of Bad Axe; two daughters, Jennifer Gottschalk of Bad Axe and her special friend, Harold Talaski, and Chrystal Mattocks and her husband, Steve, of Bad Axe; one granddaughter, Amanda Talaski; his mother, Marge (Peavey) Young of Elkton; one sister, Gloria LeJeune and her husband, William Sr., of Bad Axe; two brothers, Ronald Gottschalk and his wife, Harriet, of Hastings, Fla., and Sam Gottschalk and his wife, Sue, of Elkton; a sister-in-law, Susan Gottschalk, of Bad Axe; and many loving nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis August Gottschalk Sr.; and three brothers, Johnny, Alvin and Louis Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Evangel Life Assembly of God Church in Bad Axe with the Rev. Robert Smith, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be at Colfax Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be offered to the family.

1954 he married Marjorie Peavey, she survives. Emery was a Veteran of the Navy during WWII. He was a member of Albion Free Methodist Church, the State Retirees Association, A.A.R.P and the Fraternal Order of Gleaners. He enjoyed gardening and coin collecting.

Survivor include his wife Marjorie Traver of Albion, a brother Hylen Traver of Coldwater, 2 sisters-in-law Janet Dauber of Newago and Frances Roe of Battle Creek, 2 brothers-in-law Kenneth Peavey of White Cloud and Donald Peavey of Haiti, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Free Methodist Church in Albion, with Rev. Robert Bolton officiating. Visitation was Monday, June 15, 2009 from Noon until time of service at Free Methodist Church. Burial: Albion Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions to Free Methodist Church of Albion.
