The indication that this line is linked to James LAWRENCE (1769-1843) and Jean McLEISH (1769-1831) is a logical assumption based upon old family records that did not make the relationships completely clear. There were a number of male family members named James and John and a number of female family members named Jean who appear to sometimes have been called Jane. John LAWRENCE (1839-1912) appears to have been the first member of the immediate family to go to the United States, arriving in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 6, 1855 at the age of only 14.
