Notes.-The "L Class" is in a highly complex state, owing to the variations in build, giving ten or more types by appearance. Further uncertainty is introduced by inadequate information regarding boats whose construction has been stopped. All built under Emergency War Programme, but funds for completion of some boats will fall within post-war Navy Estimates. In dimensions, H.P., speed, &c., these boats have a marked resemblance to the 1914-18 German ocean-going Submarines. Minelaying boats not known exactly, but unverified reports say L 2, 14, 17 are equipped for sowing mines.

War Losses.- L 10.
