This chapter of my family history consists of a report on the descendants of my immigrant ancestor, Peter Mock (1727-1812) of Washington and Frederick Counties, Maryland. Peter married three times, to Magdalena Erb, by whom he had Peter II and Mary, to Elizabeth, the mother of his six other children, and to Margaret, who is buried next to him in Baust Cemetery, Tyrone, Carroll County, Maryland. Peter's home for the last twenty years of his life was about two miles due east of Taneytown in Frederick (now Carroll) County.

Because I've traced collateral descents from Peter more extensively than I have for other lineages in my ancestry, I've separated this chapter into several web pages for faster loading and easier reading. These consist of a page for Peter, separate pages for each of his children, and descent charts which serve as guides to the descendants and their spouses. The son Christian is my great-great-great-grandfather who married Mary Shearer and moved to Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and his history has been researched in detail. His collateral lines have been traced using primarily census data, while land, probate and similar primary sources for them have not been examined.

The Y-DNA charts of the male descendants are intended to give a quick guide toward possible male heirs still living. The Mock Family Historian discussion group has an extensive DNA Project underway to trace relationships among the many Mock lineages in this country. At present, there are no descendants of Peter Mock of Maryland participating in that study.
