Mary Heatwole 1 2
Mennonite and then Brethren. 4
Mary and her siblings have traditionally been shown as the children of Johann Mathias Hutwohl 1711-1752 from Steeg, Germany and a "Miss Hass". That descendancy was first compiled in a book by David A. Heatwole in 1882. That scenario was problematic as pointed out in a book by David's grandson, Daniel R. Heatwole, Sr., circa 1950. There seemed to be a missing generation. In 2000, Daniel's son, Franklin D. Heatwole, provided evidence for the ancestry shown here -- that the father of this family was Jacob, not Mathias. 5 6 Mary married Peter Bowman, son of Jacob "Nimrod" Bauman and Veronica, in Pennsylvania. (Peter Bowman was born on 16 Feb 1762 in Allegheny Valley, Berks Co., Pennsylvania, died on 2 Jan 1823 in Rockingham Co., Virginia and was buried in Bowman Cemetery, Mt. Clinton, Rockingham Co., Virginia.) The cause of his death was hunting accident. |
