Inducted into the Army on 25 April 1918 as a Sergeant. His occupation is listed as a switchman. He was 25 at the date of enlistment. Sergeant James P. Suber was honorable discharged at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 16 December 1918.

In either 1939 or 1940 James went to a Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Marion, Iowa. The Knoxville Veterans Hospital is listed as a mental facility.

According to the 1934 Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska City Directory, James P. was employed by Dresher Bros. Co., Inc. (probably cleaners). He lived at 5045 Pinkney St.

James married Gladys Lucille Nicholson on 13 Jun 1925 in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska. (Gladys Lucille Nicholson was born on 6 Aug 1901 in Lead, Lawrence Co., South Dakota, died on 11 Aug 1985 in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska and was buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska.) The cause of her death was cardiopulmonary arrest.
