JARY
James Jary 1817 - 1892
James was born in Salthouse, Norfolk, a small seaside town
Married Mary Ann WAGG in 1842. When he married he was a flour miller
They lived in Docking in 1851 with six young children.
Between 1851 and 1854, three childen had died.
They came to Nelson, New Zealand by the barque "Constantine" in 1854. This left England on January 1. On board were James, labourer 34, wife Mary Ann 32, Elizabeth 9, Mary Ann 4, Alfred, 5 and Arthur aged one. Family story has it that the flour grinding stone he brought to New Zealand was thrown overboard as the seas were too rough at the Nelson harbour to allow the ship to come into harbour without lightening the load.
He set up a flour mill, on the Wairoa River, south of Waimea.
He went bankrupt in 1869.
James and Mary went on to have five more children in New Zealand. They had many many grandchildren
They were very involved in the Methodist church.
According to newspapers of the time he entered chickens, roosters and other livestock into the Agricultural Shows and won many prizes

John was born in Cawston in Norfolk. There is one family of JARY there. John has a brother, David, who is a sailor.
There is a possibility that John was involved in the Napoleonic war.
Sarah FROST was born in Hunworth in Norfolk. Her family names include WALLER and FREARMAN
