Born at Murphys Cove, Halifax Co., he was a son of the late Hugh and Lorna (Monk) Beaver. He was a longshoreman on the waterfront for 34 years. He was a member of the Longshoremens Association, Local 269; Royal Canadian Legion, Scotia Branch 25, and the Resolute Club, Inglis Street, Halifax. Surviving are his common-law wife, May Durette; son, Darrell; grandchildren, Bobby Joe, Kathyn Marie and Ricki Lee, all of Lakeside, Halifax Co.; daughter, Lorna; grandson, Cory, Dartmouth; stepmother, Lillian Beaver, Murphys Cove; brothers, Glenn, Surrey, B.C.; Rudolph (Rudy), Antigonish; half-brother, Garnet, Sackville; stepbrother, Clyde, Ontario; sisters, Joan (Mrs. Dale Kennedy), Pleasant Harbour; Lorna (Mrs. Norman Beaver), Murphys Cove; halfsisters, Linda (Mrs. Guy Butler), Lower Sackville; Bonny McQuarrie, Dartmouth; stepsister, Janet Boutilier, Bedford. BEAVER, Clarence John - 70, Ford Street, Halifax, died March 2, 1999, in the VG Site,QEII.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late, Bernard and Pearl (Butler) Beaver.He was an automotive mechanic for many years. He was fond of music and was an avid pool player. Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Nowe; daughter, Debra Mosher; sons, David, Dale, Darren, Daniel, all of Halifax;
sister, Velda Sampson; brothers, Harry, Russel, Gerald, Bernard; 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Lillian Watson; brothers, Robert, Kenneth. Cremation has taken place. Committal service 10 a.m. Friday in St.John's Columbarium, St. John's Cemetery, Halifax, Rev. Marilyn Newport officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to any charity. BOUTILIER, Gerald Alexander - 69, Boutiliers Point, died September 14, 1994, in Scotia Nursing Home, Beaver Bank. Born at Boutiliers Point, he was a son of the late Charles and Marjorie (Boutilier) Boutilier. He was predeceased by a brother, Milton. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. BOUTILIER, Donald Cyril Richard - 54, Sheet Harbour, Halifax Co., died May 10, 1996, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital. Born in Mushaboom, June 8, 1941, he was a son of Annie (Loretta) Boutilier and the late Brady Boutilier. He was a woodsman with Delbert Green Lumbering prior to his accident in October 1988. He was an avid sportsman and member of St. Michael's Anglican Chuch, Sheet Harbour. BOUTILIER, Amy Geneva - 88, died October 27, 1997, in Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage. Born in Murphys Cove, Halifax Co., she was a daughter of the late James and Lydia (Beaver) Borgal. She was a longtime member of the women's auxiliary of Holy Trinity Church, Tangier, Halifax Co. She was well known for her talent in sewing, knitting and crafts. In later years, as a member of Dartmouth Senior Citizens Club, she put to use her talent in costume making. She was a seamstress at Claude W. Vincent Ltd., Dartmouth. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters, Dentzell Eddy, Dartmouth; Lorna (Mrs. Leighton Horne), Eastern Passage; Lorraine (Mrs. Harold Irving), Lower Sackville; Geneva (Mrs. William Hemeon), Falmouth; sons, Blanchard, River John; Cecil, Hatchet Lake; Alvin, Lower Sackville; Eugene, Nine Mile River; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. BOUTILIER, Cyril Harold - 51, Sheet Harbour, Halifax Co., passed away on September 16, 1998, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of the late Mark and Alma Boutilier. He was an avid gardener, collected antiques, enjoyed fishing and hunting, greatly admired the beauty of nature and took pride in providing food and shelter to "his flock" of wild birds. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, the former Barbara Harnish; two loving daughters who were the light of his life, Kelly and husband Jason Kennedy, Dartmouth; Jillian and companion Christopher Russell, Kentville; brothers, William and wife Priscilla, Ronald and wife Sharon, Sheet Harbour; Miles and wife Ruth, Port Dufferin; Carter and wife Patricia, Head of Mushaboom; Murray and wife Alicia, Dartmouth; Tom and wife Violet, Watt Section; Darrell and wife Mary Ann, and Glen, Windsor; mother-in-law, Dorothy Josey, Sheet Harbour; brothers-in-law, Richard Harnish, Sheet Harbour, and Francis Harnish, Beaver Harbour; aunt, Loretta Boutilier, Sheet Harbour; many nieces and nephews. BOUTILIER, Burrell James Albert - 86, Albany New, Queens Co., Died Thursday, February 25, 1999, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Glen Haven, Halifax Co., he was a son of the late Evard and Edna (Johnson) Boutilier. He was a carpenter all his working life. He was an avid sports fan enjoying hockey and baseball, as well as a hunter and fisherman. Surviving are his wife, the former Ernestine Kempton; daughters, Barbara Weagle, Wilmot Station, Annapolis Co.;  Leora (Mrs. William Cavanaugh), Wileville; sons, Granville, Albany New; Vincent, Manotick, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Bertha Dwinell, Scarborough, Ont.; half-sister, Beulah McDonald, Toronto; brother, Russell, Golden, B.C.; half-brothers, Hector, Edward, Toronto. BOUTILIER, Charles Anthony, 75, Port Caledonia, died February 17 1999, in Glace Bay
Health Care Complex. Born in Port Caledonia, he was a son of the late Charles and Katherine (Murrant) Boutilier. He was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church, Port Caledonia. He worked as a miner in collieries #4, #20, #26,and retired from Phalen Colliery in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Norma (MacLean). Daughter, Linda (Mrs. Waiter Snow), Port Caledonia; sister, Margaret (Mrs. George MacLeod), Port Caledonia. Two grandchildren. BOUTILIER, Doris Mildred -86, Beaver Bank, passed away peacefully on January 5,1999, at home. Born in Dutch Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Caroline (Isenor)
Paley.  She was known as Aunt Dot or Mrs. Boutilier in her community. She taught school, for over 37 years in Beaver Bank. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Good Shepherd Guild. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren· She is survived by daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Jim Hovey), Wards Brook; Barbara (Leslie Westbury), Mildred (Bob) Soubilere, all of Beaver Bank. BOUTILIER, Jack Morton Taylor - 81, Halifax, passed away on February 1,1999, in the VG Site,QEII. Born in Halifax, he was the youngest son of the late Arthur and Ethel M.(Brown) Boutilier,
Halifax. Educated in the Halifax schools, Ashbury College, Ottawa and Dalhousie University, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot, instructor in the Second World War, and following the war. He served as president of three photo finishing companies until his retirement in 1972 . He is survived by daughters, Barbara Clair Armstrong, Halifax; Catherine Mary (Mrs.Ken Brown), Kelowna, B.C. Daphne Lynn Boutilier, Los Angeles, Calif. his son, Arthur George Boutilier, Yellowknife; grandsons, Michael P. Armstrong, Halifax; Gregory T. Armstron J.,Dartmouth, great-granddaughter, Kirsten Armstrong, Dartmouth, son-in-law, Ken Brown; daughter-in-law, Dale Boutilier, granddaughter-in-law,Bedford, Erin Armstrong, sister, Jeanne (Mrs. Charles) Stanfield,  was predeceased by his wife, E.Claire (Smith) Boutilier; sisters, Emily Lang, Margaret Cooke, Edith Snow; brothers, Gilbert, Wilfred. BOUTILIER, Reta Pearl - 87, Halifax, died January 14, 1999, in Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building, QEII.  Born in Chignecto, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Lillian (Totten) Moore. She lived and was raised in Springhill, residing in Halifax for the past number of years. She was employed at the VG Hospital and at the Atlantic Colonial Bowling Centre. She was an avid bowler and knitting was her favourite pastime. Surviving are daughters, Lillian (Mrs. Harold Calbraith), Halifax; Kathleen(Billy)(Mrs.Clarence Rogers),Fernie, B.C.; son, Ernest Jr. Vanier, Ont.
sisters, Dora Hape, Parrsboro, Arvilla Cuvelier, Hatchet Lake; Martha Rushton, Bellmont;
nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by husband Ernest; infant son, Donald; brothers, Tom, Michael, Jack, Lloyd; sisters, Mary, Alice. No visitation. Cremation has taken place.

CAVICCHI, Florence Eleanor - Boutiliers Point, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the age of 84, at Melville Lodge, Halifax, where she had been a resident since November 1993.
Born in Boutiliers Point, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Nellie (Boutilier) Christie. Florence was an honorary member of St. James ACW. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are son, Willard and wife Elaine, Tantallon; daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Lester McEachern), Boutiliers Point; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Joan in infancy; brothers, Fred, Frank, Howard; sister, Bernice. Visitation today, April 23, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. In Ronald A. DAUPHINEE, Melbourne Clyde - 78, formerly of Head of St. Margarets Bay, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, June 11, 1998, in Armview Estates, Halifax. He was a son of the late Walter and Ellen (Boutilier) Dauphinee. Mel was a well known member of his community, working as a volunteer for 20 years with the first St. Margarets Bay Boy Scout Troop. He was a member of the IOOF MU. He was a great lover of the outdoors, enjoyed fishing and his walks through the woods. Surviving are sons, Melbourne F. and wife Dorothy, Clyde and wife Karen, Tantallon; Keith, Queensland; daughters, Susan and husband Joseph Ryan, Beaver Bank; Lynn and husband Andrew Manning, Head of St. Margarets Bay; brothers, Victor, Herring Cove; Russell, Halifax; sisters, Myrna (Mrs. Gilford Jennings), Head of St. Margarets Bay; Leola (Mrs. Harry Snair), Black Point; Vera (Mrs. Lionel Charron), Sudbury, Ont.; grandchildren, Kim, Kirk, Joe, Glen, Melissa, Holly, Christopher, Amy, Ali, Kerrilyn, Jessica. GOULD, Norbert Fabian (Norm) - 63, 400 Kings Rd., Sydney, died March 14, 1999, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Adeline Boutilier and Archibald Gould. He was a member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish, Sydney. At the age of 16, he joined the Armed Forces. In 1974, he retired from the Communications Electric Engineers CFB Kingston, Ont., of the Canadian Armed Forces as a warrant officer. He also served with the Ministry of Correctional Services at Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee, Ont. He was a correctional officer and manger of the swat team in Napanee, Ont. He was an investigator program review/investigations inspector for the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services in Mississauga, Ont. until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of several Legions and Moose Lodges in Napanee, Oshawa, Brampton, Ont., and Sydney. Surviving are his wife, the former Clara Boutilier; daughter, Norma (Mrs. Bruce Gould-Mack), Mississauga, Ont.; sons, Brian, Kingston, Ont.; Glen, Oshawa, Ont.; brothers, John, Archie, Brian, Albert, Wesley, Pat, Glace Bay; sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Leonard Larkham), Deborah (Mrs. Jack Daisley), Glace Bay; four grandchildren. GRAY (Beaver), Pearl Lois - 45, Vancouver, B.C., formerly of Indian Harbour, Halifax Co., died February 19, 1998, at home. She was a daughter of Leo Beaver, Indian Harbour, and the late Thelma (Boutilier) Beaver. Surviving are her husband, Earl; daughters, Rachel Drover, Ottawa; Crystal Gray; son, Leo Gray, both at home; sisters, Gail Bradshaw, Halifax; Gladys (Mrs. Gerald Brooks), Hatchet Lake; Peggy Beaver, Quebec; twins, Cora (Mrs. Thomas Verge), Liverpool, and Carol (Mrs. Norman Morash), Dartmouth; Brenda Jordan, Dartmouth; Vina (Mrs. John Collins), Parrsboro; brothers, Leon, Barry, Dartmouth; numerous nieces and nephews. LONGARD, Borden Parker - 90, Halifax, died January 2, 1999. Born in Tantallon, he was a son of the late Levi and Maude (Boutilier) Longard. He lived in Timberlea from 1917 to 1993, at which time, he became a resident of Fairview Villa. Well known in the community for efficient work and reasonable rates, he was a watch repairman for over 65 years. In the early 1990s, he built small model planes that flew, a sailboat with remote control and a powered ice boat. He built the smallest steam engine on record at the time. The electricity in his home was from a turbo driven generator he rigged in Nine Mile River. He invented a device that allowed him to talk to his neighbours and also installed his own home alarm system. He invented a crystal radio set and was able to talk to motorcyclists for many years. He was an avid gardener. He was very knowledgeable about the workings of and repairs to organs and was the organist of the Tantallon Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of that church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin brothers, Melvin and Eldred; brothers, Marshall, John, Stewart, Roy, Burton; sisters, Katie Isnor; Ida Hampton. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Walker's Funeral Home, Seabright. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday in Tantallon Seventh Day Adventist Church, Rev. David Crook officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. POWER, Carrie Matilda - 99, Sheet Harbour, formerly of Mushaboom, died February 14, 1999,  in Duncan MacMillan Nursing Home. Born May 19, 1899, in Spry Bay, she was a daughter of the late Zacharia and Hannah (Boutilier) Beaver. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was a very active member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Mushaboom, as well as ACW and Alter Guild. She loved to knit and sew for her family in her earlier years and enjoyed playing cards. Surviving are son, Albert; daughters, Mamie, Glades Lodge, Halfiax; Una, Dartmouth; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; son, Rubin; daughter Edith; brother Charles; sisters, Nina, Jessie, Sadie, Maude; two children in infancy; great-granddaughters, Natasha, Nicole. POWER, Reuben Stanley - 71, Mushaboom, Halifax County, died November 1, 1992, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born in Mushaboom, he was a son of Carrie (Beaver) Power, Mushaboom and the late Charles Power. He worked as a janitor for 14 years with Halifax County School Board, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed for many years with Scott Paper Company until it's closure in 1972. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Mushaboom and past warden and caretaker of the parish cemetery. He is survived by a brother, Albert, Mushaboom; two sisters, Mamie Boutilier, Mushaboom; Una (Mrs. Albert Burtchel), Dartmouth. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald; two sisters, Edith Boutilier, Mable in infancy. The body is in Crowell's Funeral Home, Sheet Harbour, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Tuesday. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rev. Robert Richmond officiating. Burial will be in parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church or Canadian Cancer Society.

TOMPKINS, Vera Elizabeth Mae "Lizzy" - 82, Lockhartville, Kings Co., died February 13,
1999, at home. Born November 3, 1916, in Harcourt, N.B.M , She was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Jane (Bailey) Beaver. She had been a resident of Lockhartville for 72 years.
She was the Last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her husband, Percy; sons, Ronald, Gypsum Mines Hants Co.Robert Kamey, Coldbrook, Kings Co.;daughter, Sheila Schofield, Lockhartville.10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Percy; sister, Stella; brothers, John, George, Art. Visitation 2-4, 7-Y p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, all in Lohnes-DeazleyMemorial Chapel, 419 Albert St Windsor, Rev. David Shaw officiating. Burial in Horton Cemetery, Hortonville, Kings Co.  Donations to VON, Kings County.


WAYE, Robert - 78, Commercial Street, North Sydney, formerly of Sydney Mines, died March 1, 1999, at home. Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Howard and Alice (Boutilier) Waye. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and was retired from CN Marine in North Sydney.  Surviving are sisters, Ethel Penny, Sydney mines; Laura Burger, Olive Breckenridge Ontario; brothers, Leonard, New Brunswick; George, Australia. He was predeceased by brother, James.Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. Committal service 12 noon ,Thursday in Brookside Cemetery,Rev. Brenda Drake officiating.
