Roger
retired in 1993 as Principal Engineer (C.Eng., M.I.Mech. E.) for
Anglian Water Engineering & Business Systems, Colchester,
Essex. He had already devoted many years to founding and
researching the Pattle Family Tree. An excellent sailor all his
life, he was never happier than when at the helm of his gaff-rigged
Deben four-tonner, "Carte Blanche". There was usually a family dog on
board too. His sense of humour was always evident in his quiet remarks
and chuckles. Roger headed various groups such as Balhaven (owners of
beach huts at Wrabness, Essex); Wrabness Action Group; Wrabness Nature
Preserve, where there is a bench dedicated to him. The book "Brewanss"
was put together by Roger - a history of the Wrabness foreshore. A
family man, he has two grandsons, William and Joseph.
