Williams, Henry A.
Henry Andrew Williams, 47, of Liberty Missouri, formerly
of Gravois Mills, was found dead on a street in Liberty on Thursday night,
following an alleged attack on Williams by Richard e. McGinnis, 20, a Negro.
An autopsy showed Williams died of a brain hemmorage, according to the
Dr. O.S. Pate, Clay county coroner. Williams had been struck repeatedly.
The body of the man who was thought to have killed Williams was found ganging
in the basement of a house in Liberty. Henry, the son of Ira
and ary Lucetta Holst Williams was born November, 29, 1909 being the oldest
of nine children. On July 4,1932 he was married to Maxine Beroth
of Eldon. He atended grade school in Graois and graduated from Versailles
High School. Surviving are his wife, his parents, 3 brothers: Howard,
Bill, Lige J. Williams of Gravois Mills; 4 sisters: Mrs Greg (Ira Lou)
Huff of Versailles, Misses Marie and Camille Williams of Jefferson city
and Miss Joan Williams of Bloomington, Illinois. He ws preceded in
death by a sister, Margaret, who was killed in military duty in Europe
during WWII.
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church
at Versailles with the Rev. Lyman Firestone officiating. Interment
was in the Versailles cemetery under the direction of Kidwell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were employees of the State Highway Department: Thomas Haw,
Robert N. Hunter, Alvin Coop, Thomas Bell, Bill Hubband and Joe Danforth.
