Hughes, Mrs. James H. (Polston, Mary Alice)
   Mrs. James H. Hughes died at home in Versailles on Jan 26, 1953.  Her husband James Hughes died in 1931.  Mary Alice Polston Hughes&nbs p; was born in Warren county, Mo on Aug. 19, 1879, the daughter of Rev. Charles J. Polston and Harriet Ann (Avis) Polston.  Her father was a ministher of the Methodist church - central Mo.  She was married to James H. Hughes of Henry county Mo on March 19, 1899. in Versailles.  They had 9 children, 2 died in infancy. Survivors include T.L. Hughes, Jackson Ill; Charles Mitlin Hughes of Versailles Mo; Bob Hughes, Garden City Kans.; Jim Frank Hughes, Versailles, Mo; Harriet L. Hughes, Versailles Mo; Mrs William Todd, California Mo; Mrs. Wil F. Berry Jr., Versailles Mo.  She is also survived by a sister: Frances Polsten Barrett of Seattle Wash..A brother Frank Ploston and a sister Nellie Polston preceded her in death.  18 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
   The funeral held in the Versailles Methodist Church Jan 28, 1953 with the Rev. Lymon Firestone officiating.  Interment in hte Versailles cemetery.  Pallbearers: Clarena Cable, Reed Moore, L.H. Fain, A.H. Bauer, Roy E. Otten and Sam E Morris. Honory pallbearers: T.N. Ayres, J.A. Petty, P.J. McDonough and George M. Kahrs.
