Thelma Lorene Elder, 58, Versailles
died December 13, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City.
Born September 13, 1930 at Stover, the daughter of Roy and Odessa Pryor
Turpin. Prior to moving to Versailles, she had lived at Hamilton,
where she was employed at the Weber Shoe company. She was a member
of the First Baptist Church in Versailles. She is survived by 2 daughters:
Karen R Cherry of Jefferson City and Teresa Stokes of Olatha Kansas; her
mother: Odessa Turpin of Versailles; one brother Phil Turpin of Versailles;
3 sisters: Freida Riggen of Kansas City, Ethel Branstetter of Versailles
and Faye Downey of Princeton and 3 grandchildren: Courtney and Brandon
Cherry and Preston Stokes. Preceded in death by her father: Roy Turpin
on August 3, 1985.
Funeral services 1 p.m. Thursday December 15 in Scrivener
Chapel. Rev. Paul Sherouse officiating. Merrill Wommack sang.
"He" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers : Duane Pryor, Charles Elder, Clarence
Pryor Jr., Larry Don Pryor, Jay Shockley and Pat Turpin. Interment
in the Versailles cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Jefferson City Hospice,
219 E Dunklin.
