One by One we are called upon to step from the stage
of action and pass on, and say farewell to one and all in this life and
go on to try the realm of the other world. Our faith in God and in his
word helps us all to look beyond this veil of bitter tears to that place
of rest that remains for the people of God.
The writer (V. M. Smith) was called to speak
words of comfort to the sorrowing relatives and many friends after which
the fleshly remains were placed in the silent city of the dead at
Gott Cemetery to await the
resurrection morning when all who are in their graves shall come forth,
they that have done
good unto the resurrection of life and they that have done evil unto
the resurrection
of condemnation.
This is only another warning unto the human race
of people that we are swift passengers from time to eternity and it behooves
us one and all to be ready to go so we can with Paul say that we have fought
a good fight, we have finished our course, we have kept the faith and because
we have done this the Lord, thy righteous judge, will give us a crown of
righteousness in that day when we are gathered before him.
V.M. Smith
