Bessie I. Roe, 78, of Route 3 Versailles
died Saturday afternoon, July 1, 1978 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in
Versailles. She was born February 9, 1900 in Morgan county, a daughter
of the late William & Roxie Kennedy Chamberlain. On July 20,
1922 she married Cha rlie H. Roe, who preceded her in death on September
10, 1972. She is survived by 2 daughters: Mrs Fern Daniels and Mrs.
Bonnie Copeland both of Yuma Arizona; two sons: Charles Don Roe and Glen
Roe of Versailles; 1 brother: Floyd Chamberlain of Versailles; 6 sisters:
Mrs. Cicil Coontz, Mrs. Clara Waisner, Mrs. Thelma Scott, Mrs. Irene Evans,
Mrs. Lorene Barton and Mrs. Della Pifer, all of Versailles and grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she
was preceded in death by two children: Hazel Pauline and Billy Roe; 3 brothers:
Orvil, Emery and Charley Chamberlain and 2 sisters: Nellie Chamberlain
and Mrs. Maude Miller. She was a member of West Union Baptist church.
Funeral services were held July 3 at Kidwell Garber Funeral
Home with the Rev. Kenneth Carpenter officiating. Hymns by Mrs. Mary
Carpenter. Organ: Mrs. Luther Campbell. Pall Bearers: Lyle Chamberlain,
Jack Coontz, Warren Pifer, Henry Evans, Vincil Miller and Calvin Waisner.
Interment in the Versailles cemetery.
