Bond, Presley W.
Presley W. Bond was born October 30, 1869 and died November 6, 1951
at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 6 days. On Sept 16, 1884 he
married Lucy Duff, of this union were born 4 children, 1 died in infancy.
Mrs Bond preceded her husband in death on July 3, 1932. The 3 surviving
children are: Mrs Maude Mariott, Independence, Mo; Warren and Lloyd Bond,
Versailles, Mo. He also leaves two grandaughters: Mrs. Jimmy Williams,
who as a young girl lived in the Bond home, and Judy Bond, daughter of
Mr. & Mrs. Warren Bond; one sister: Mrs. Stella Holt of Seattle, Wash
and one gr grandaughter: Melanie Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a barber in Versailles
for 60 years until his retirement in 1946. One of Mr. Bond's most
interesting experiences was the time he shaved Cole Younger before the
turn of the century.
The funeral was held in the Methodist Church with Rev.
Lyman Firestone officiating. Hyms were sung by: Mrs. Lyman Firestone, Mrs
Gene Bartram, John W. Nelson and Roger Meyer; accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd
Collins. Pallbearers were: Harold Knoop, George Clodfelter, Paul
Barnes, Wen Forest, George Petty, Vencil Routon and W.B. Todd. Following
the service Mr. Bond's body was returned to the funeral home, where it
lay in state until Monday, awaiting the arrival of a grandaughter, Mrs
Jimmy Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment in the Versailles
Cemetery. Funeral directed by Kidwell Funeral Home.
