Bishop, Robert L.
Robert L. Bishop,, son of Mr & Mrs. Amos Bishop was born May 26, 1878 and died February 23, 1957  at the home of his son, Johnnie Bishop of Versailles; age 78 years, 8 months, and 27 days.  He was born near Buffalo Missouri, but spent most of his live in Versailles and Elson.  On Septerber 27, 1901 he married Mary L. Hays. 8 children.  He is survived by 7 children: rosie Bishop of Versailles. Mrs. Jack Price of Tipton, Mrs. Ted Coal of St. Louis, Herschel and Lloyd Bishop of Eldon ; John Bishop of Versailles;  Durwood Bishop of Burbank California; one sister: Mrs. Josie Stillwell of New Franklin Missouri; 2 brothers: Amos Bishop of New Franklin Missouri and John Bishop of Sedalia; 19 grandchildren and 8 great -grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife (July 29, 1946) and an infant son who died in 1904(buried at Big Rock cemetery) and two brothers: George Bishop of New Franklin and Croff Bishop of High Point.
   Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God church in Eldon with the Rev. George A. Young officiating.  Pallbearers were: J.C. Bishop, Paul Bishop, Donald Martin, Raymond Bishop, Forrest Bishop & Herschel Bishop Jr.  Burial was in the Versailles cemetery under the direction of the Scrivner Funeral Home.
