22 June, 1922 Statesman
Last week the Statesman reported briefly the
death of Mrs. Malinda Bond, mother of T. P. Bond. The data
concerning her life's history not being at hand then we print it this week,
as furnished by Rev. E. B. Woods, pastor in charge of the funeral, as follows:
Nancy Malinda Bills, second daughter of Dr. A. M. H. Bills,
was born in Miller county, Missouri, April 30, 1849 and died at the age
of 73 years, one month and 18 days. She was married to Thomas Price
Bond April 8, 1869. To this union there were born eight children,
the youngest, Ladene, died at the age of two and a half years old, and
her husband preceded her to the better land 20 years ago. The rest
of the children are still living, as follows; Fannie Morris, of Olean;
Thomas P. of Barnett: Stella Payne of Duncan, Oklahoma: Mary
Campbell of Versailles; Edna Andrews of Pioneer, Ohio: Ruby
Wallbank of Croweburg, Kansas. The deceased with her father and
three neighbors organized the Christian church at Hopewell in 1867,
and has lived a faithful Christian life ever since. She leaves with
her children and relatives a host of friends to mourn their loss.
She had so lived that her fear of death had been overcome and her
last words were that she was crossing the river Jordan to her loved ones
who had preceded her to their heavenly home.
Mrs. Bond was a most estimateable character.
Faithful to her church and faithful to her friends and family. She was
one of the charter members of the church of Christ at Hopewell. The
splendid character of her children bear testimony of her excellent
motherly character. They extend their heartfelt thanks to all who
ministered to her during her short illness.
