Amanda Bowen Baxter, the daughter of Henry C. and Martha O. Bowen was born in Morgan county near Fortuna on December 24, 1899 and passed away Nov 25, ____, at her home in Versailles.  On September 22, 1912 she married Will Baxter, who died November 25, 1951.  She is survived by 2 children: Cynthia (Mrs. Lloyd Nichols) of Versailes and B.H. Baxter of Casper Wyoming; 2 sisters: Mrs. Effie Hanby of Ore Grande California and Mrs. B.F. Akin of Fortuna; 2 grandchildren: Sue & Richard Sidney Baxter.  Elanor Baxter preceded her grandmother in death, in infancy.
   Funeral services were held at the Batist Church in Fortuna with the Rev. J.L. Freeman officiating.  Burial was in the Green Grove cemetery under the direction of the Kidwell Funeral Home.
