Porter Leander Sanders died on Sept. 26, 1918
in the Argonne Forrest of France of a gunshot wound and
the body was brought back by his family and interred in the
family plot in Chico California Cemetery on Sept.18, 1921. He is
in Sec. 17 lot 340.
He fought with the 363 infantry, Co. G,91st Div. WW1 and he was a member
of the American Legion. His father was James Franklin Sanders and his mother
was Elizabeth Lawcena Vanpool who are buried with him. Elizabeth's father
was a pioneer in Russellville and Barnett, Mo. His name was John Carroll
Vanpool and his wife was Peggy Ann Merritt. They are buried in Big Rock
Cemetery.
