Dora married E. J. MERRIOTT, son of Ernest MERRIOTT and Sylvia BROYLER, on Dec 23 1952. E. J. MERRIOTT was born Aug 19 1930 in St Joseph, Missouri. He died Feb 20 1998 in Columbia, Boone county, Missouri.
E.J. Merriott, 67, Versailles, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 20, 1998, at
the University of Missouri Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia. He
was born Aug. 19, 1930, in St. Joseph, the son of Ernest and Sylvia
Broyler Merriott.On Dec. 23, 1952, he married Dora Calton, who survives of the home.
He was a farmer and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles.
In January of 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he was an
ammunition specialist in Lakenheath, England, before being discharged in
August of 1954.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joe Merriott and
wife, Beth, and Matt Merriott and wife, Terri, all of Versailles; one
daughter, Lorna Erven and husband, Kevin, of Goodson; one sister, Billie
Bradford and husband, Jerry, Versailles; seven grandchildren; one
step-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 23 at the First Baptist Church in
Versailles, with the Rev. Todd Forman officiating. Recordings of
"Consider The Lillies" and "Footsteps In The Shadows" were played. Organ
selections were played by Virginia Ross. Interment was in the Versailles
Cemetery, with nephews serving as casketbearers. The family suggests
memorials to the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia. Arrangements
were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of
Versailles.
