199. Sarah Jane CALTON ( , Rose Andeline CANTRELL , Mary Armita CANTWELL , Reuben ) was born Jul 15 1931 in rural Barnett, Missouri. She died Sep 1983 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Sarah Jane Calton was born July 15, 1931 near Barnett, Morgan county,
Missouri and died September, 1983 in Kansas City of respriatory failure.
Jane had tuberculosis several years prior to her death.
Sarah Jane and Andy Tombs were third cousins.

SARAH JANE TOMBS
Mrs. Sarah Jane Tombs, 5, of Gravois Mills, passed away Friday,
August 26, 1983, at the Medical Center of Independence.
She was born July 15, 1931, near Barnett, the daughter of Charles
and Ada mcCasland Calton. She was united in marriage on March 3, 1951
with Andrew Tombs, who survives of the home.
She was a member of the Sunrise Baptist church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Mark Tombs,
of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Wymer, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.,
and Mrs. Kathy smith of Buckner; her parents, Charles and ada Calton of
barnett; five brothers, John Calton of Versailles, Frank Calton of
Tuscumbia, Bill Calton and Bob Calton both of barnett, and Lonnie Calton
of Terre Haute, Ind.; five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hensley of Kansas City,
Mrs. Leila Thompson of Terre Haute, Indiana, mrs. June Thompson of
Barnett, Mrs. Grace Caywood of Eldon, and Mrs. Ruby Klammer of the state
of California, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber
Funeral Home with Rev. George Duckworth officiating. Nephews served as
pallbearers, with interment in the Versailles Cemetery.
Sarah married Andrew TOMBS, son of Charles E. TOMBS and Maude May COLE.
They had the following children:

Wanda married (1) William Edward CAYWOOD, son of Brooks Edward CAYWOOD and Mary GOANS, on Nov 13 1956 in Versailles, Morgan county, Missouri. The marriage ended in divorce. William was born Sep 16 1932 in Morgan county, Missouri. He died Feb 04 1979 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill was born April 22, 1932 and died February 4, 1979.
Bill was in the service. He served in Japan.
He operated a grocery store in Gravois Mills Missouri in the mid 1960's.
Bill was living in a basement in Kansas City, Missouri and death records
show he died of a heart attack.

Betty was killed in an automobile accident near Idaho Falls, Idaho while
on vacation. She is buried in the Versailles cemetery, Versailles, Morgan
county, Missouri.

Mrs. Betty Lou Shackleford, 35, of Versailles, passed away Thursday,
July 22, 1982 in Idaho Falls, Idaho from injuries received in an
automobile accident there. She along with Jack, her husband, two sons,
Greg and Jason also one foster daughter, Jill Harrison were returning
from a vacation trip.
She was born at Barnett on July 7, 1947, daughter of Charles Al and
Ada Evelyn McCasland Calton.
She graduated from the RII school system in Versailles.
On April 15, 1966, she was united in marriage at Versailles to Jack
Shackleford, who remains in Critical condition at Park View hospital in
Idaho Falls.
Mrs. Shackleford had formerly been employed at the Brown Shoe Co. in
versailles. she was a member of the Gravois Mills Baptist church, where
her husband is the pastor.
She leaves her husband, Jack, two sons, gregory Wray, who will be
released from the hospital Thursday, Jason, who was released Tuesday; one
foster son, Michael (Mike) crenshaw of the home, one foster daughter,
Jill Harrison, who remains in serious condition, also of the home, her
parents, Charles and Ada Calton, Barnett; five brothers, John H. Calton,
Versailles, C. Frank Calton, Tuscumbia, billy D. Calton, Barnett, Lonnie
D. Calton, Terre Haute, Ind. and Bobby D, Calton, Barnett; six sisters:
Mrs. Nellie Lee Hensley, Kansas City, Mrs. Sarah Jane Tombs, Versailles,
Mrs. Ruby Lucille Klammer, Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Lelia Mae Thompson,
Terre Haute, Ind. Mrs. Wanda Grace Gibbs, Eldon, and Mrs. Barbara June
Thompson, Terre Haute, Ind.(this is an error...June was residing in MO.)
and many other relatives and friends.
She ws preceded inn death by one sister, Miss Hazel Irene Calton in
1975 and one infant son Curtis Wray in 1970.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the
First Baptist Church with Rev's John C. Farris and Lloyd Patterson
officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery. Friends may
call at the Scrivner Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Friday. In lieu of
flowers, those who desire may make contributions to the Jack Shackleford
family, in care of Scrivner Funeral Home.
Betty married Jack Wray SHACKLEFORD on Apr 15 1966. Jack was born 1944. He died 1991 in Republic, Green County, Missouri.
Jack was born in 1944 and died in 1991.
Jack was injured in the accident, near Idaho Falls Idaho, while on
vacation; that killed his wife in July of 1982 and was comatose for
nearly 10 years.
Jack and Betty had the following children:

Oliver James Calton, 75, Mound City, KS, formerly of the Versailles
community died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 22, near Olathe, KA. He was born
Aug. 21, 1909 at Linn Creek, the son of the late Thomas Cleveland and
Bertha Mae McCasland Calton.
He was married on Nov. 25, 1928 to the former Irene Belle Hess, who
preceded him in death on Aug 14, 1975. On Sept. 5, 1975 he married Ruth
butcher Zimmerman, who survives of the home.
Mr. Calton was a retired farmer and welder and was a member of the
Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five daughters, Marie
Williams and Dora Merriott, both of Versailles, Louise Sidebottom,
Shawnee, Kan., Donna Hardwick, Basehor, Kan, and Barbara Meeker, Olathe
Kan; three stepchildren, Charles Zimmerman, Sedalia, Elizabeth Mucci,
Chicago IL, and Edith Proffer, Long Beach Calif.; two brothers, Andrew
Calton, Bonner Springs Kan. and Grover Calton, Lone Jack; two sisters,
Rosie Hayes, Armstrong and Maxine DeRossett, Independence; 13
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a number of foster
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov 26 at the
Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home with the Rev. Gail Howard officiating.
Interment was in Greenmore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Barnett.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home
of Versailles.

The first child of Oliver and Belle was a son. He is buried in the
corner of the garden of the place where they lived near Barnett, MO.
James married (1) Irene Belle HESS, daughter of Willie HESS and Carrie HAGGERMAN, on Nov 25 1927. Irene was born 1912. She died Aug 14 1975.
Belle was born in 1912 and died October 14, 1975. She is buried at
Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, Morgan county, Missouri.
James and Irene had the following children:
