Lenoir was named after his uncle Lenoir Westmoreland Cantrell. Lenoir
was buried with Lucinda at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
The 1860 census of Hardin county, Tennessee, shows us that Lenoir
is there with Lucinda and their only child at that time to be Ruth at
the age of [ 1 ], this also brings up the question of the true name of
this child as she is listed also as being Mary E. It may be since
Lenior's first wife was the sister to Lucinda, their name
this child after her, Mary Elisa.
We see that Devinal is not listed in the census with Lenoir and
Lucinda in the 1860 count, He is instead found staying with his
grandparents, in Waynesboro, at the Darby farm. Devinal was 6 years old.
More information on this is foud, according to the notes of Edgar
Dyler in Wayne County, that Devinall was there still in 1867. This is
recorded in the Petition to sell the land of Josiah Darby after his
death. It was said then that Devinall was living with his grandmother.

Lenoir married (1) Mary Eliza DARBY, daughter of Josiah DARBY and Elizabeth DAVIS, on Oct 23 1851 in Hardin county, Tennessee. Mary was born Nov 27 1834 in Wayne county, Tennessee. She died May 12 1854 in Hardin county, Tennessee.

Christie, page 32.)

"Pinkney lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas prior to the Civil War. He made
the mistake of saying he voted for Lincoln, he was pro-South, but
anti-slavery. Some men came and burned his house down and tried to kill
his family. It was winter time, Jane went to live with relatives, Pinkney
walked over the mountains in the snow, all the way to to Christian
County, Missouri. He took Gan with him, the other two boys I think were
with Jane. She died shortly after the war started." (Louis Adamic's
book.)

"P. Cantrell, Born Oct 26, 1824, Died July 29 1901." (Tombstone at Wise
Hill Cemetery,
Clever, Missouri.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Christie's and Cantrell's
books give year of birth as 1822, however, I feel the tombstone is more
accurate. This is also the birthdate given for John Jabin Cantrell. Could
Pinkney and Jabin have been twins?)

1850 Milam County, Texas census, page 13, Milam and Williamson District,
taken 5 October 1850, Dwelling/Family 386/398: Pinkney CANTRELL, 25,

family were enumerated very near Fort Gates in Milam County, Texas. The
Fort Gates area is now located in Coryell County. This would have been
the fort at which Pinkney was said to have been blacksmith. He is shown
in the census as a farmer.)

1860 Washington County, Arkansas census, page 800, Westfork Township,

December 19, 1855. He married Laura Elizabeth Fore December 24, 1882. She
was born November 22, 1886. Thomas Pinkney was a blacksmith Laura E. died
December 9, 1939. Thomas Pinkney died in Missouri." (CANTRELL - CANTRILL,
1972, by Horace Elbert Cantrell, page 271.)

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Much of the information of the family and
descendants of Thomas Pinkney Cantrell was supplied by Marjorie Cantrell
Mendieta, Austin, Texas. She gives what I believe to be more accurate
dates and information than supplied from other sources.)

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: It has been said, in quoting from "The Story of
My Friend
Cantrell" in MY AMERICA, 1938 by Louis Adamic, page 3, "... Pinckey
(Cantrell) set out for Texas, the the Eldorado. ... the young couple went
via the Tennessee, the Ohio, and the Mississippi to the mouth of Red
River, then up Red River to the head of navigation, thence overland to
Fort Stockton, Texas. Pinckney Cantrell was a blacksmith and worked at
the fort for years, shoeing cavalry horses and repairing wagons and other
army equipment. Later he moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas, whence malaria
drove him to the uplands of the Ozarks. He was at Fayetteville, Arkansas,
at the outbreak of the Civil War." There is no doubt Pinkney and his
family were in Texas, as they appear in the 1850 census in Milam County,
Texas. This is where Fort Gates was at that time, and Pinkney was
probably a blacksmith at this fort. Fort Stockton was not established
until 1859. The 1860 census for Washington County shows Pinkney and his
family living in the West Fork Township, and the later children being
born in Arkansas. A check of the tax records of Milam County, Texas might
show just how long Pinkney stayed in Texas, but the census record
indicates he had left Texas before 1951.)

(NOTE FROM JUDIA TERRY: "I had 10 August 1925 as a death date, I do not
know where it came from but it is very exact."
Thomas married Laura Elizabeth FORE on Dec 24 1882. Laura was born Nov 22 1886. She died Dec 09 1939.
900 M v Benjamin Franklin CANTRELL was born Jun 27 1858 in Arkansas. He died May 22 1935.

Benjamin Franklin Cantrell was born on 27 Jun 1858 in Arkansas. He died
on 22 May
1935. He was christened. "Benjamin Franklin Cantrell was born Jun 27
1858. He married Anner (Anna) C. Hicks, November 24 1882 at Moody,
Missouri. They moved to Rockport, Washington about 1900. Benjamin
Franklin died August 10, 1925." (CANTRELL - CANTRILL, 1972, by Horace
Elbert Cantrell, page 273.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Another source gives
Benjamin Franklin's death date as 22 May 1935 and their marriage date 30
July 1882 at Bakersfield, Missouri.)
Benjamin married Anner HICKS on Dec 24 1882 in Moody, Missouri.
