Marriage 1 Clora\Clara  b:  Germany

3/1/02

A Johan Nicholas Weinert/Weinerth married June 5, 1747 to Anna Clara in Friedelsheim, Germany. The marriage took place in a Reformed Lutheran Church which is consistent with other evidence of the family attending this church in America. In the marriage document it is stated that Johan Nicholas Weinert was a widower from Haslcoh, Germany and that Anna Clara Maurers was the widow of Hennrich Christoph Maurer, whom she had married in 1744 (3 years previously).

1.  Sheri LeQuia <lequia@elite.net> children

2.   Sheri LeQuia <lequia@elite.net> Polly Phillips wrote a letter Apr 21,1960, to my aunt, Ann Bohanan, concerning some church function of the Cedar Grove Baptist church located on Nails Creek Road at the junction of Pryor Road in the north east section of Blount Co, Tn.   Polly wrote, "I'm sorry I don't know more to tell you about great-great--uncle John. Most of my information has been gleaned from

census, deeds, church records and some names given me by an older cousin now deceased.   I have been contacting every name I find connected with him, but find that his descendents know nothing about him.....Census records indicate he was born in 1789........The uncle next to him, Nicholas, was born in March, 1790, and the aunt before in Nov, 1787. John also had a

sister Catherine Mayes wife of Gardner who lived next to him.   The brother Nicholas lived in Blount Co., from 1833-1866, then moved to Monroe Co......"

I have a copy of the Abstract of Ellejoy Baptist Church Records 1818-1878 which were taken from a copy in the McClung Room at Lawson Mcghee Library in Knoxville Tn. I will select those entries I think relevant:

The Arm of Miller's Cove met on Elijoy the second Saturday in December 1818 and re

mained an "Arm" of the Miller's Cove Baptist Church until May 16, 1823. ( At this time it became a fully constituted church and began accepting members and conducting business as Ellejoy Baptist Church.)

Nov. 24.1832 church received......among others, John Vineyard by experience.

Thur before the second Sat in Dec. 1832, church received among others, Jane Vineyard by experience.

Jan. 25, 1833, church received by experience:   among others,   Nancy Vineyard.

Feb. 23, 1833,   Anna Vineyard

July 27, 1833,   church received by experience: among others,     John Vineyard

Aug. 7, 1833, The church met at John Vineyard's.... note hand   written into the typed abstracts that this was the beginning of Cedar Grove

Aug 10, 1833, met again at Vineyard's

Sept. 28 1833, John Vineyard made a deacon

.

Nov. 9, 1833, met at Nail's Creek (same as meeting at John Vineyard's), received: Sally

Vineyard..

Jan. 25, 1834,   met at Ellejoy--no business

Feb. 22, 1834,   The church began to hold meetings at Nail's Creek where there arose a respectable church.   Sometime in 1834 John Vineyard gave the church 1 acre of land beside the creek.   Presumably this was an acre of his own property and he lived by the church the rest of his life.   The church continued to meet back and forth with Ellejoy and in April and May of 1835 agreed to constitute a church at the Cedar Grove Meeting House and divide

the funds.

Blount county is divided into 18 districts with different post offices at different times.   The line between the 12th district and the 13th is immediately west of the church. The line marking Dist. 11 runs parallel to Nails Creek road just across the creek. In 1850.

Wm. Vineyard( and his wife Ann Brakebill) is listed in dist. 11 with a PO of Maryville,(about 16 miles away).   His entry number is 1359 and his father's (John and Jane) is 1361.

Two pages later the first entry is 1383 and becomes dist. 12.   I think the census taker was careless and didn't understand the district lines very well.   The Brakebill cemetery is very close to the church in dist 12 and John Vineyard and the people who live close to him (census years) don't change much.   I think he lived by Cedar Grove church until he died- either with or near his son William.   William and Ann are buried in the old (and not the new) Cedar Grove cemetery, but no one knows where John and Jane are buried. I have Edith Little's Blount County, Tennessee Cemetery Records and his grave is not listed. There are several Vineyards who should be on the census but aren't. 1830 lists John and Tabler in Blount Co. which is probably correct.

1840 lists no Vineyards which can't be correct.

1850 lists Nicholas (age 60), another Nicholas (age 30), Silas (age 30 and son of Tabler), William (age 32 and son of Tabler), Washing? (age 26), William (age 24), and John (age 60). ..all in dist. 11

1860 lists Lindsey (age 47 and another son of Tabler). no more Vineyards which can't be right

Elizabeth married a Hale which is my line. I believe she died at a fairly young age around 1880. My ggrandfather was their son and he was born in 1868 and orphaned at age 12. I don't know the cause of death or the place.

2.  Linda Hodges - Apr 8, 2002  My line connects to Elizabeth Jane Vineyard married to William Henry/or Harvey Hale.

Florence Jane Hale - William H Hoosier

Jess Marion Hooser - Myrtle Mary Jones

Jessie (Jack) Hoosier - Mary Arzina Pollard

Linda Kay Hoosier - A C Hodges

At the present time we are at a loss as to who Elizabeth Janes Vineyards parents are. She is supposed to have been born in Georgia. I have no date of birth or death. Her children were supposed to have been orphaned at an early age the oldest being around 12 at the time. This would have been in the 1880-1885 time frame. My greatgrandmother Florence Jane Hale's birthdate is July 27, 1870 Tenn..   The children were raised by grandparents but don't know which ones.   The children ended up in Texas as Florence was married in Red River County Texas in 1886. One of her brothers Will was married in Lamar co Tex in 1890. Any help out there on Elizabeth? Florence moved to Oklahoma after her marriage.

3.  Willis Brown - May 19, 2003

I have been searching for Amos and Elizabeth Vineyard Hale for some time now. The last record I had was in Catoosa County, Ga in 1870. When Elizabeth's mother Annie Vineyard and most of her children show up in Red River County, Texas in the 1880 census that is where I had focused most of my attention. However, I have found an Amos Hals or Hale in Catoosa county again in the 1880 census. Most of the names fit with the exception of a daughter named Cardila. Wondered if anyone else who may be working this line has seen this census record and their thoughts. It lists the wife as Jane and daughter Florence as Florida. It also has Caroline where I have Carrie. I know that their children were in Texas after their death which I had heard was around 1880.
