Dr. Mathias Mount
Dr. Mathias S. Mount, 85, of Bloomington, died Saturday, Nov. 12, in a Bloomington
hospital.
He had retired in 1984 after practicing as a physician for 54 years in Bloomfield.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, and a member
of the First United Methodist Church of Bloomfield; a 50 year member of
Bloomfield Lodge, F&AM; a 50 year member of the Indiana State Medical
Association; member of the Green County Medical Association; the American
Medical Association; Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; the Bloomfield
Rotary Club, from whom he received the Paul Bellow Award; Bloomfield Post
No. 196 of the American Legion; the Indiana University Alumni Association;
and the board of directors ofthe Bloomfield Bank.
Born March 11,1903, in Scottsburg, he was the son of James S. and Annie
Jane Murphy Mount.
Survivors include his wife, the former Eleanor Coppik; a daughter, Louanna
Goetz, of Houston, Tex., and a foster daughter Evelyn Mullis, of Linton;
two sons, Dr. James L Mount, of Bedford, and David L Mount, of Hanover;
a brother, Mark L Mount, of Westfield, New Jersey; a sister, Bessie Campbell,
of Montita, Va.; five grandchildren, 12 foster grandchildren, and fourgreatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the First Methodist
Church of Bloomfield, with Rev. Ron Lawhead and Rev. Russell Youngblood
officiating.
Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield
was in charge of arrangements.
