Elizabeth Pettit
(b. 1779 - d. November 1827)

ELIZABETH PETTIT was born in 1779 at Pettit's Station, Lincoln Co., Kentucky, and died November 1827 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, buried Hopewell Cemetery next to her parents. She married JOHN DONOHUE November 13, 1802 in St. Genevieve, MO, son of JOSEPH DONOHUE and NANCY VAUGHLEN. He was born about 1770 in Pennsylvania, and died after 1829.

John Donohue was named administrator of his wife's estate on June 21, 1828; Horace Prentice was bondsman for $100. A year later, the court made note that Donohue had not made an inventory. He moved away from Warren County before the 1830 census was taken.

  5. MINERVA B. DONAHUE, b. 1808. She married HORACE PRENTICE January 08, 1828 in Vicksburg, (Warren Cty.) MS, son of JOSEPH PRENTICE and PRISCILLA MERRIMAN of Grafton Ma. Brother of Maria Prentice of Grafton MA (wife of William McDowell Pettit, early settler of KY MO MS and Lake Village AR) They are descendants of Henry Prentice The Planter of Cambridge MA Massachusetts Bay Colony (abt 1640 ) and the early New England Settlers Merrimans of Concord, MA.and Pilgrim Deacon Edmund Rice of Sudbury MA and Richard Sartell (Sawtell) of Groton MA.

    1. JOSEPH PRENTICE, b. June 06, 1829, Warrenton, MS; d. September 15, 1855, Mississippi City, LA. Died during a hurricane and is buried in Hopewell Cemetery next to his grandmother, Elizabeth and great grandparents, Benjamin and Rebecca. Joseph is listed on the 1850 census for Warren Cty., MS
    2. LOUISA PRENTICE, b. January 1833, Lake Providian, LA; d. June 3, 1835, Lake Providian, LA. Published in the Vicksburg Register - June 1835 - Wm. Mills editor
      Died on 3d at Lake Providian, parish of Carrol, LA, of the measles, Louisa Ann, daughter of Horace and Minerva Prentice - aged 2 yrs and 5 mos.
