Last Will and Testament of John Ambrose (1767-1839)



The last Will and Testament of John Ambrose of the township of Donegal in the county of Westmoreland   I John Ambrose considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory blessed be God for the same I do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say, First I allow all my Just debts and funeral expenses to be paid then I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife Susannah the one third part of all that is raised on the ___ farm where my son Killian now lives on and all the personal property that may be left at my death the use of it during her natural life   Then I will and bequeath unto my son Benjamin two dollars beside what he has got I give and bequeath unto my son Killian all the Old farm where I now reside on all but fifteen acres which I will to my son Jacob of the end of the place next to where said Jacob lives and the said Killian ___ the use of the place as long as his mother lives by giving his mother one third of the grain raised on said farm and then at his (sic) death the property all falls to the said Killian and said Killian has to keep two cows and four sheep on the farm as long as she lives or remains my widow and I will and bequeath that my son Killian shall pay unto my daughter Mari (sic) Marker Seventy dollars one year after his mother's death. Also to my daughter Catherine King Seventy dollars, I will and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Sharer one hundred and fifty dollars in three years after the death of his Mother to my daughter Louisa Mathews one hundred and fifty dollars four years after the death of her Mother to my daughter Rachel Weller one hundred and fifty dollars in five years after the death of his mother and to my daughter Julyan Hays one hundred and fifty dollars in six years after the death of his Mother   All to be paid in the manner above mentioned without any interest by my son Killian, and further I do not allow my son Jacob to pay any thing more on the land he bought from me more than what he has paid.   I do hereby apoint (sic) Jacob and Killian Ambrose to be executors of this my last Will and Testament   In Witness whereof I set my hand and seal the third day of November A D 1835     John Ambrose

Legally proved and approved the 9th day of January 1839.   Same day recorded and Letters Test. issued to Killian Ambrose Jacob Ambrose the other Exor. not appearing. Exor. sworn
