Last Will and Testament of Johann George Ambrose (1778-1851)
The last will and testament of George Ambrose of North huntingdon Township
Westmoreland County and State of Pennsylvania. In the name of God I George
Ambrose, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound
mind and memory / blessed be almighty God for the same / do make and publish
this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former
wills by me heretofore made, in manner and form following: First I direct
that all my debts and funeral expenses and all charges touching the proving of,
or otherwise concerning this my will shall be paid and satisfied as soon after
my decease as possible out of the first moneys, that shall come into the hands
of my executors, from any portion of my estate.
Also I direct that a fair valuation or appraisment be made of all my personal
estate,
and be sold by public auction according to law, and that all the real estate,
of which I shall die seised or possessed, shall be sold by my executors,
according to law, and also I do direct that nett produce of both my personal
and real estates, except that portion which will belong to my beloved wife
Margaret as a dower, according to law, be divided and paid out equally, as soon
as it can be done, share and share alike, amongst all my children or to their
heirs. viz: 1st to my son Frederick, 2nd to Elizabeth Herrionette widow, 3rd
to Margaret wife of Jonathan Baker, 4th Mary wife of Calsh, 5th to Catharine,
wife of Daniel Kuhns, 6th to Louise wife of Lewis Baughman 7th to Sarah. In
the case that my beloved wife Margaret, shall not survive me, then I direct,
that the whole nett produce, both of my personal and real estate, shall all be
paid out to all my children, as above directed, share and share alike, and in
case that my beloved wife Margaret will survive me, then I direct, that after
her decease, the remainder of my estate, namely my wife's dower shall be
divided in like manner as before mentioned, amongst all my children, or their
heirs, share and share alike. I do hereby make and ordain my esteemed friend
and neighbour William King and my beloved son in law Daniel Kuhns, executors of
this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I George Ambrose, the
testator, have to this my last will and testament written on one sheet of paper
set my hand and seal this fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and forty five.

Signed sealed published and declared, by the above
named George Ambrose as and for his last will and testament,
in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our names
as witnesses thereto in the presence of each other.

William Burger Whereas I George Ambrose of North huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pa, have by my last will and testament in writing duly executed bearing date the fourth day of January 1845 given and bequeathed to all my children share and share alike of my estates. Now I the said George Ambrose being desirous of altering my said will in respect to the said legacies do therefore make this present writing, which I will and direct to be annexed as a codicil to my said will and taken as a part thereof I do hereby revoke the said legacies by my said will, in regard to my son Frederick, having given to this my said son Frederick a tract or parcel of land, for which parcel or tract of land, I charge my son Frederick with forty dollars, and for this reason I will and direct, that this my said son Frederick, shall have and receive forty Dollars less, than my other children, out of the shares of my estates. And I do ratify and confirm my said will in everything, except where the same is hereby revoked and altered as aforesaid. In witness whereof I George Ambrose the testator have to this codicil set my hand and seal this sixth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five.
