Last Will and Testament of August Henry AMBROSE (1762-1833)

The last will and testament of Henry Ambrose of Ligonier Township Westmoreland County. I Henry Ambrose considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory (blessed to Almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and for the following. I will that all my just debts as shall be by me owing at my death together with my funeral expenses and all charged touching the proving of or otherwise concerning this my will shall in the first place out of my personal estate and effects be fully paid and satisfied. And from and after the payment thereof and subject thereunto My Will is that my wife Susannah have the mare saddle and bridle three cows six sheep of her own choice and fodder for all these animals during the winter after my decease Also the cupboard and its contents ___ furniture the large chest bedsteads Beds and Bedding what she may deem necessary also one third of the grain in the barn as well as in the ground Two spinning wheels and her choice of one of the iron pots. To my granddaughter Isabella daughter of my daughter Susanna I leave one cow one saddle and one bureau as she may choose one spinning wheel and one Bed provided she lives with my wife Susan until she be eighteen years of age. I further will that my son George have a mare and her colt and a cow all of which he commonly calls his own. I further will that the remaining part of my personal property be appraised and sold at public vendue or outcry and the amount be equally divided amongst my sons & daughters John Frederick William and George Elizabeth Margaret Mary Catherine Susannah Rachel and Martha share and share alike. I further will that my wife Susannah have all the salted meat in the Barrel. I further will that my wife Susannah shall have all my Real estate to let or lease for her benefit until her death and said Real estate shall be sold at bendue or public outcry and the amount divided so that my sons John Frederick William and George shall each of them have twice as much as each of my daughters Elizabeth Margaret Mary Catherine Susannah Rachel & Martha and I make and ordain my son William & my son George executors of this my last will and testament and I hereby nominte & appoint Henry Johnston my son-in-law overseer of the same Witness my hand & seal Jany 4th 1833.

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Henry Ambrose to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto this fourth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & thirty three Robt Peattis(?) Robt Martin Legally proved and approved the 6th day of Jany A.D. 1833 Letters Testamentary issued & exos sworn before A. Johnston
