The Early P-rr-tt Lineages of North America
For British lines, see the P-rr-tt Society ship_h14.jpg - 1796 Bytes

To help those working on Parrott genealogy, this is an attempt to catalogue all the P-rr-tt lineages of North America in one comprehensive web site, and to assist with the interpretations of an ongoing P-rr-tt Surname DNA project. Already, enough information is available from DNA testing to know that the Parrott surname is used by at least five unrelated families. Thus the eventual goals are to:

  • Define which P-rr-tt families are related to each other
  • Connect with the corresponding P-rr-tt families in Europe, Australia, and elsewhere

The Lawrence Parrott who was transported to Maryland in 1662 is probably the one who settled in Glouscester county by 1667. Several lineages later appear in the area (split off as Matthews county), who are probably his descendants, as might be the Lawrence Parrott previously listed. None of these lineages have had their DNA tested:

    • Parrott, Prunella, 1635, by John Parrott (her husband), ____Co.
    • Might be ancestors to Perritt family of North Carolina
    • NOTE: There is speculation that this John was also the John Perrot known as 'John the Quaker.' This John, *if* he was the one known as 'John the Quaker,' thus appears to have spent most of his subsequent life in Europe. He moved to Barbados in 1662, and died in Jamaica in 1665.
