This family was at Morton on Lugg in Herefordshire. The family came to acquire holdings in Wellington, and became known as 'of Wellington'. Sir James Perrot, last of the Pembrokeshire line, left his estate, including Haroldstone, to Sir Herbert Perrot, last of the Herefordshire line. Nevertheless, Barnwell questions if this family was really related to the Pembrokeshire branch. Turvey clearly states they were related, albeit distantly. A reading of the will of Francis Perrott (below) indicates the family had considerable land holdings in Pembrokeshire A genealogy compiled by Robert Perrot of Herefordshire attributes the descendancy of this branch to the Scotsborough branch of the Pembrokeshire Perrots. They probably were more closely related-- by marriage-- via the Bromwitch family.

According to Barnwell, this branch of the family did not use the usual Perrot arms until they obtained it from Sir James Perrot, last of the Pembrokeshire line. Instead, they used quarterly per fess indented or and azure. This arms was one of the ones quartered on that of Penelope, daughter of the last Sir Thomas Perrot. However, according to the London Visitation, the line of this family (John/Thomas/Richard) said to have gotten their arms from Sir James apparently did maintain the use of the traditional Perrot arms all along, with a cresent for difference. However, another line of this family (John/Thomas/Roger) did have their arms respited but not dismissed.

Burke's Peerage includes a James Perrot of Wellington as a member of this family. He marries a Dorothy Perrot, said to be the daughter of the last Sir Thomas Perrot of Pembrokeshire, and his wife, Dorothy Devereaux. Barnwell makes it clear the existence of this James and Dorothy is ficticious. Nevertheless, the Dames of the Magna Carta have accepted the existence of James Perrot of Wellington and Dorothy Perrot.

-Oxford scholar who collaborated with Sir James Perrot in writing a Perrot genealogy

-From Turvey, p 380:
"matriculated aged 17 in July 1589 at Brasenose College, Oxford, from here he presumably graduated soon after in the early 1590's."

-From Barnwell, p 122:
"It was against Robert Perrot, his brother Francis, and his son Sir Herbert, that proceedings in the Herald's Court were taken for assuming the usual Perrot coat, they were not entitled thereto. The plaintiff was Thomas Perrot, a merchant of London. ... The plaintiff sets forth that Sir Owen Perrot of Hardleston (Haroldston) had four sons only, and exhibits his own descent from that family, which he proves by the bearings and depositions of divers persons. Now, as all recognized accounts give only two sons to Sir Owen, namely his heir, Thomas, and Robert, reader of Greek to Edward IV (and who appears to have died unmarried), it is not easy to ascertain how the plaintiff proved his descent, without relying on additions Philpot's Stemmata before alluded to, and who do assign two other sons to Sir Owen, namely Richard, described as bailiff of Sandwitch, who died without issue; and John, father of Thomas, of the Brook (now Claymor), who was the father of another Thomas. These additions are thought by Mr. King to be in the same writing as that of the rest of the MS. ... The suit must have taken place prior to 1642, the year that Frances Perrot died; and probably did take place between that year and 1636, when Sir Herbert came into the Haroldston bequest, and, naturally wishing to assume the usual Perrot coat, might have persuaded his father and uncle to do the same. Whatever was the result of the suit, Sir Herbert did ultimately use the disputed arms, as proved by the seal of his will and the monument in Wellington Church. The fact, however, of the claim being disputed confirms the statement that this branch of the Perrots were not related, or could not make out their relationship to the Haroldston family."

Upon the death of Francis Perrott,
Stay passanger-- if thou hast one tear
beflow it on the noble dust laid here.
Here Perrott lies, whose great capacious mind
His native limits scorned to be confined
To the unknown dangers of enranged seas
And foreign enemies more dangerous than these
His valour he exposed Venice may boast
The aid he lent her to defend her coast
Gainst unbelieving Turks-- Thus wifely he
Commits his credit to posterity.
The fading memory of wicked men
Scarce their dry funeral surviveth when.
Thoes who by virtuous acts chance this name
Live in records of eternal fame.
