His great granddaughter has provided the following information: "James Forrester was traveling by wagon train with his mother/siblings in 1832 in Overton Co (TN). He contracted measles so she 'left' him with a Miller family, so the story goes, where he stayed until he was 11/12 years old, at which time he has 'bought' by Geo. M. Thompson for 1.00 and lived with him until he became of age. His mother never returned for him... He did not know where he was born or who his parents were." His Civil War letters as Sergeant of the 28th Consolidated Infantry to his wife, Mahala Bowman Parrott, are posted. Webmaster's note: Based on DNA values, James Forrester appears to be descended from one of the Doss families of Virginia.

According to a family descendant, "There are only two known Pierrot's that are definitely documented- an individual named Peter or Pierre Pierro, and a woman of a similar age, possibly his sister, Cecile Pierro. On Peter's death certificate in 1869, it states that his parents names were Peter and Mary (probably Pierre and Marie) and that he was born in Little Bras D'or in 1791. A large Nova Scotia based family that currently goes by the surname Pero or Pearo are all documented descendants of Peter Pierro."
