Paul W. MATTOX was born July, 8 1907 west of Comstock, NE, Custer Co. at the farm home to Charles B. and Mary (ROTH) MATTOX.
He attended grade school District 52 near home; Sargent High School, graduating in 1924. That fall he entered Mechanical Engineering College at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, receiving his degree in 1928. He was united in marriage with Bernice DEVORE July 6, 1928 in Omaha. They moved to Charles City, Iowa where he worked for the OLIVER Co. and also in Davenport,Iowa as an engineer. During the "Depression of the early 30's", they moved back to Comstock NE. to help operate the MATTOX Home Place.
In 1934 with 2 small sons, they moved to Waterloo, Iowa where he was employed with John DEERE Co. for 38 years. After his retirement in 1972, most of their winters were enjoyed in Hemet, CA.
Paul MATTOX passed away Nov. 2, 1987 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa of heart failure.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, Nov.11, 1986.
Survivors include son Russell and wife Evie of Cedar Falls, IA.; son Larry and wife Reggie of Hemet, CA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a sister, Beatrice HYDE of Sargent, NE.
Memorial services were held Nov. 4, 1987 at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Waterloo, IA. with burial by his wife Bernice in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waretloo, IA.
