Beatrice N. HYDE, 97, of Sargent, NE, died 1 Feb 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Sargent, NE.

Funeral services were held Monday, 5 Feb 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the RHOAD Funeral Chapel in Sargent, NE, with Pastor Mark CRIST officiating. Music was provided by Pastor Marty ROBBINS, soloist, and Linda SEIFRIED, organist. Pallbearers were John HYDE, Melvin HYDE, Mickey DUNBAR, Bernard DUNBAR, Alan DRAKE & Robert DRAKE. Burial was in Douglas Grove Cemetery, Comstock, (Custer Co.) NE. RHOAD Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Northeast Custer Parish.

Bea was born to Charles and Mary ROTH_MATTOX on 10 Dec 1903, on a farm 8 miles south of Sargent, NE. She was raised on the farm, attended grade school in Douglas Grove Township and graduated from Sargent High School. She attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years receiving a teachers certificate. After teaching school for a year, Bea married Victor HYDE in 1927 and the couple moved to Chicago where Vic was employed by International Harvester. They returned to NE. in 1932 to make their home on the MATTOX farm where they farmed for 41 years. They had two sons, Layton and Gordon. Vic and Bea retired in 1973 and purchased a home in Sargent where they lived until 1999. when she suffered a stroke and moved to the nursing home. Bea was a member of the Westcott Church for many years and then transferred membership to the Sargent United Methodist Church. She was active in many church and ladies groups anmd enjoyed socializing in the farm community and in Sargent. She always loved music, taught her boys to sing harmony and played piano at church. Bea was primarily a homemaker but in the 1960's she enjoyed traveling around the local area selling Avon and Amway products.

Survivors include one son, Gordon HYDE and wife Roberta of Comstock, NE; daughter-in-law Dolores HYDE of Kansas City, MO; and special friend, Elaine HYDE of Kansas City, KS. Bea has seven grandchildren: Teri BAUMANN and husband Jerry of St. James, MO; Steven HYDE and wife, Donna of Fort Dodge, IA; Kevin HYDE and wife, Denise of Omaha, NE; Cynthia HYDE of Overland Park, KS; Carla FROMM and husband Jeff of Boise, ID; Mark HYDE and wife, Rondi of Racince, WI; and Michelle RUDOLPH and husband, Dan of Greenbelt, MD; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband and one son (Layton).
