Transcription of Revolutionary War Pension Record No. S70595 District of Penns On the 19th day of Sept. anno Domino eighteen hundred and ninteen before me the subscriber __ of the jury of the Court of Common pleas for the said districts personally appeared Isaiah Tuttle aged seventy three years resident in Greene County in the said District who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provisions made by the Cole Act of Congress entitled "An act to provide for certain services engaged in the land & _____ service of the United States in the revolutionary war" That he then said. Isaiah Tuttle enlisted for the term of one year in the month of March 1776 in Roxbury township in Morris County in the State of New Jersey in the Company Commanded by Captain Peter Dickeson of the Regiment Commanded by Colonel Elias Dayton in the line of the State of New Jersey in the Continental establishment that he continued service in the said Corps or in the service of the United States until the end of his year or nearly so when he re-enlisted with twelve more of the said Regiment then in Albany for ____during the war. That he served in the said Regiment for one year more from his last enlistment and was obliged to quit the service at Valley Forge in the State of Penn, having lost his sight from Cold __ That he was then placed on the pension list in New Jersey at thirty two dollars per annum which he has regularly received until March 1818 when he made his first application for the benefit of this present act of congress that he was in an engagement on Staton Island against refuges _____ forces where there were about two hundred of the enemy made prisoners. That he was in the Battle of Brandywine & Germantown, That he is now in reduced circumstances and stands much in need of the assistance of his country for support that he hereby relinquishes all claim to his Pension from the State of New Jersey as paid by the United States agent in Trenton finding it now not adequate to his ______ as from extreme age he can no longer pursue any manual industry. That such evidence as could establish the foregoing facts are now convinced as within his power in this western part of Penns Sworn to & declared before me the day and year aforesaid David Gray I David Gray Judge as aforesaid do Certify that it appears to my satisfaction that the said Isaiah Tuttle did serve in the Revolutionary war as stated in the preceding declaration against the common enemy for the term of two years at one time in the continental establishment and now transmit the proceedings and testimony taken and had before me to the Secretary of the department of war persuent to the directions of the ________act of Congress, I am also satisfied that he needs the assistance of his Country for Support April 19, 1919, David Gray Isaiah Tuttle, Col. Day, Private, New Jersey Line in the army of the United States during the Revolutionary War. inscribed on the Roll of Pannsylvania at the rate of eight Dollars per month, to commence on the 20th of April 1818 certificate of Pension issued the 16th of September 181? and sent to Samuel Roberts Judge for Isaiah Tuttle, Jefferson, Greene, Pennsylvania arrears to 4th of Sept 1818 $36 semi-anl.all'ee ending 4th Sept. 1819 $48 1 year $84.00 Fifteenth District of Penn @ Greene County - on this nineteenth day of September 1820 personally appeared, in open Court, being a court of secur for said County, Isaiah Tuttle aged seventy four years resident in Clarkesville in said County who being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath declare that he served in the revolutionary war as follows in the 3rd New Jersey Regiment in the Company commanded by Captn Peter Dickenson or Dukerson that he made disclaration then of as well as of the battle he was in at the time which he served on the twentieth day of April 1818 before the Hon'ble Samuel Roberts whereon he has obtained a certificate from the war department No. 2349 a duplicate of which he now holds dated & renewed 6th day of April 1820 (this original being lost in transmitting by post). And I do solumnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time by gift, sale of in any manner disposed of my property or any past _____ with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled "An Act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the revolutionary war, posted the 18th day of March 1818. And that I have not nor has any person in trust for me any property or securities contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto ann___ and by me subscribed vizt.: One old hand saw, a drawing knife, an aze, a jointer plane, a crozc, a knife and ______, a tea kettle, a pot, a shider, a few old knives and forks, a few plates & potter dishes, a pewter tea pot, part of a set cups & saucers, old cranks. Signed Isaiah Tuttle. I also declare that my occupation is a cooper that I have no use of one eye that I am frail and seldom able to pursue. that my children are all gone from me and are able to support themselves that my wife only remains with me who is also old and infirm--sworn to and declared on the 22nd day of September 1820 before. signed Isaiah Tuttle Sworn & subscribed in open court the 18th September 1820 Attest Wm. T. Hays, Prothy? Penn - Greene County I, William T. Hays Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Greene aforesaid do certify that the foregoing oath and schedule thereto annexed are truly copied from the record of the said Court I do further certify that it is the opinion of the said Court that the total amount in value of the property exhibited in the schedule is Ten Dollars & Twenty Five Cents. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said Court this 16th day of October Anno Domin 1820.
