WILL OF THOMAS HUGHES (son of Felix and Cynthia 'Kaighn' Hughes) Greene County, Pennsylvania Will book 1, page 237-238 file No. 426 Thomas Hughes Esq. of Jefferson, Greene County, Pennsylvania. To be buried in a decent and Christian like manner. My beloved wife Elizabeth -- during her natural life (after the payment of my debts) all my stock and household furniture, house and the land here to be by her used and enjoyed under the care and management of my executors unless it will be agreeable to my wife and executors and that my debts require the sale of a part of my land which lies above the Rice's Landing Road. I also will and direct that my land in the state of Kentucky on Elkhorn in Scotland County be sold by my executors for the legatees and payment of my debts. I also will and direct that all my land or claimed to land on the Plum run in Washington County in Kentucky be given to the heirs of John Manning and my daughter Elizabeth Manning to be equally divided amongst them forever. I will and bequesth to my son Remembrance Hughes $200 in money to be paid at the time the other legatees are paid and $100 in property or the big mare at $100. I give and bequesth my son John Hughes one dollar,to my son Thomas Hughes one dollar to my son James Hughes one dollar having given them to the best to my knowledge full shares. I order and bequesth to my daughter Mary Lindsay, Sarah Roseberry, Patty O'Neil and Catherine Heller equal shares of the residue of my estate, real, personal and mixed (after the death of their mother). After death of my wife to sell all property and proceeds to be equally divided among Mary Lindsay, Sarah Roseberry, Patty O'Neill, Anne Curl and Catherine Heller after my son Remembrance gets his $300. I also will and direct that Jane, the black woman, be maintained on the premises during her natural life. I also we'll and direct at Daniel Farrell, a man of Color, be managed at the direction of my wife Elizabeth.
