Sept 22--(UP)--

Canonsburg works of the Carnegie-Illinois steel corp, into an aluminum
drop forging unit to be placed in operation by the middle of next summer,
T. D. JOLLY, ALCOA vice president, said today. The Canonsburg Daily Notes

PGH. HOTELS MAY STRIKE Pittsburgh, Sept. 22--(UP)--
Eight major Pittsburgh hotels were threatened
today by a strike of service employes (sic) unless union demands for 15
per cent wage increases are met when bargaining contracts expire Sept.
30.
Negotiations between the AFL Hotel & Restaurant
Employes (sic) Alliance and the Pittsburgh Hotel Association, which bargains
for the hotels, broke down last week. Service employes (sic) have authorized
a strike, it has been reported.
Dwindling business and inability to raise
room rents under federal price regulations make it impossible to grant
the requested wage demand, the hotel operators declare.
TIRE DEALERS ARE CHARGED Pittsburgh, Sept 22--(UP)--
Federal Judge Nelson McVICAR today issued bench
warrants for the arrest of two Washington, Pa. tire dealers charged with
four violations of the emergency price control act.
The warrants were issued against John and
George PETROS, operators of the American Tire and Recapping
Company. The brothers are charged with selling tires above the ceiling
price, selling tires without
receiving certificates, and failing to keep records of tire sales as
required by the emergency price control
act.
The complaint was filed by Louis FELDMAN,
chief OPA investigator.
PRACTICE ON DRUMS PAYING, HE'S IN CORPS
Charles "Bud" LOWSTUTER practiced long and hard
on his drums before he went into the U.S. Navy
recently. Day after day and night after night he kept at it.
He practiced so long he wore blisters on his
hands but he wanted to get into one of the Navy's musical outfits.
Today at Great Lakes Training Station in Illinois
he has achieved his first objective. "Bud" was assigned to the Station
drum corps because of his dexterity with the sticks.
That is something for "Bud" has been in the
service only two weeks.
He now plays with the corps for all companies
on the field and is a regular member of the corps' unit.
