Bristol BIG STONE GAP -- Hubert K. "Ken" Spears, 73, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at home. He was born in Inman, Va., a son of the late Ballard and Mattie Tomilson Spears. He was a retired machine operator for Superior Concrete of Macedonia, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are two sons, Mark Peters of Ravenna, Ohio, and Jeff Peters of Northfield, Ohio; four daughters, Betty Kirk of Dryden, Va., Dianne Talbott and Pam Stidham, both of Big Stone Gap, and Terri Wisniewski of Strongsville, Ohio; two brothers, Clay Spears of Oklahoma City and Hiram Spears of Twinsburg, Ohio; four sisters, Georgia Winters of Cordova, Ala., Mary Fink of Empire, Ala., Ruth Pair of Pinson, Ala., and Ernestine Craiger of Big Stone Gap; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Holding Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Don Childress will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden. Among survivors are several friends. Pallbearers will be James Talbott, Ben Kirk, Ted Wisniewski, Dan Stidham, Jim Ketron and Don Dorton. Holding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
