ORMOND FAMILY
INTRODUCTION TO ORMOND PROJECT
The majority of the research on this family was done by the late F. Lee Edwards whose personal research was given to Heritage Place, Lenoir County Community College, Kinston, NC. All of his original documents were placed at The Manuscript Division, Joyner Library, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. The original Thomas Ormond Prayer Book inherited by Martha Mewborn Marble is also at ECU. Additional documentation was provided by a number of people including William Ormond, Betty Poythress Neal, Elizabeth Albritton Landauer, dec, Trish Worthington, Annie Crenshaw, and Martha Mewborn Marble.
Lee worked with a number of people trying to tie in the Ormonds of the western part of the state including Betty Ormond but they were never to make a connection. He was also in touch with Ormonds in Florida. There was not a lot about this family he did not know and he was generous in sharing his information. This project is dedicated to him.
Additional information can be sent to
Martha Mewborn Marble.
