- Peck has sent me a copy of the legal notice in the Free Press regarding
- this cemetery being moved. . . .
- The Levi Mewborne Cemetery is currently located on GTP property off the
- John Mewborne Road close to the airport. The cemetery has to be moved
- because of the new Spirit building currently under construction and NC has
- a long list of legal requirements which at this point are being met to my
- satisfaction. Almost every branch of the family across the country was
- notified and an informal vote taken and the decision was to move it to
- Westview so the stones could also be moved. Any descendant can object to
- our choice, of course, but the majority rules. We know some of the people
- buried there but not all and there are a few we don't know the descendants
- for as they are not members of the Mewborne family. For those interested

- Also, some of the Parrotts have been "moved" to Maplewood. What happens in
- a case like this was a shovel of dirt was moved and a new headstone erected
- but the actual remains and original headstone remain at the cemetery. The
- descendants are still working on how they plan on dealing with this situation.
- At the point and time the actual removal is being done, I will notify the
- lists in the event people are interested. Might I suggest a 4 wheel drive.
- Once all the graves are moved and the stones are in place, there will be a
- graveside service by Rev. Mark Benson.
