My Pace ancestor, my 2nd great grandmother is Angeline Pace who married Jordan Morris in Henry Co, GA Nov 1834. I don't know where they were in 1840 but according to children's birthplaces, they stayed in GA till the late 1840's. In 1850, the family is in Panola Co MS but had a child in AL ca 1848. By 1860 they are located in Claiborne Parish LA. After 1860, I completely lose track of Jordan and Angeline. I know they lost about 3 sons to the War, but I don't know if they died. Odd thing is that they had 2 surviving sons who were married and had kids by 1870. But the whole gang is missing in 1870. The married sons reappear in 1880 in Claiborne Parish and by 1900 most of family had moved across the river into TX, settling around Shelby Co. I am assuming these families were impoverished because there are no other records- no land purchases or sales, no wills, no tombstones. I have searched almost every border county in AR, TX, and LA, since they lived in what we call the "Arklatex" area.

I think Angeline is a daughter of Bazil Pace who married Claricy Shepherd, but other likely candidates are his brothers Leroy or Paris. Or she could be descended from Stephen. She was born ca 1815 in GA according to the censuses. My grandmother once told me that one of her maternal greatgrandmothers was a Native American, so I guess this a possibility for Angeline. But my aunts do not believe the Indian ancestry story. However, my grandmother did know an amazing amount about family history, I think my aunts underestimate her.

There are other Pace families and Shepherd families in Claiborne Parish LA and there are other Pace families that settled in East Texas much earlier than my Morris family. I have also had no success in finding Jordan Morris parents either but there are several possibilities.

Any thoughts or clues or even info that would rule out some of the possibilities appreciated.

NOEL A. PACE was my gggrandfather. Before the 1850 Heard Co. GA census, he must have worn a cape that made him invisible. Between 1850-60, he with his wife, Angeline (possibly Fisher) and family migrated to Canton Beat, Smith Co., TX. There they joined his brother, John, wife Phebe Cousins.

Noel was born 2 Feb 1822, GA, and died 10 Mar 1879 still in Smith Co. TX. Whereas I have found one or two other Noels, I cannot tie them together with this one. My ggrandmother was Ophelia PACE, one of his daughters, and she, in turn, married Calvin J. ADAIR. They lived in Montague Co. TX.

Does anyone know anything previous to 1850 about this fellow? Your help is certainly appreciated

He married MARTHA DUKE, b. abt. 1847 in Georgia or Alabama and moved to Upshur Co., Texas. They had at least five children, FRANCIS, MARY, LYLAL,CHARLIE, and my ggrandfather, JAMES WILLIAM PACE. They are listed on the 1870 and 1880 census for Upshur Co., Texas. JAMES WILLIAM PACE moved to Carter Co., Oklahoma with his wife LOUISA BARNETT sometime before 1920. They are listed on the 1920 census of Carter Co., OK. with children, VADA, ALETHA, and JAMES. My grandmother ELIVA had already married and moved out by this time. Am hoping to find clues to THOMAS HENRY'S parents, siblings and place of birth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is in response to the query of Elaine Worley of 11/10/2000: The only Thomas Pace under 10 years of age on the 1850 Georgia census is in Carroll County. The parents are James Pace age 37 and Catherine age 34. The children are Sarah 10, Mary 7, Thomas 5, Martha 4 and James, Jr. 2, all born in GA.

Unfortunately I don't know who the parents of James were. This is the only Pace family on the 1850 Carroll Co census.

Subject: CLARENCE EUGENE PACE

We are trying to find information of the family of CLARENCE EUGENE PACE. He was the son of JACOB PACE and MARTHA WURTZ. He was one of nine children, four sisters and four brothers. The only sibling name that we know is RONALD PACE. Clarence was born in April of 1899, we think in Peneto, Indiana, but are not certain. He married WANDA MAE CATTERTON of Lawrenceville, Illinois, year unknown. He had two daughters, VIRGINIA MAE PACE and ALICE LORRAINE PACE. He worked for the Indian Refinery in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was killed in a fire there in August of 1928. When my mother passed away we found a picture of my mother holding my oldest sister Virginia when she was a baby and there was another child sitting beside her. The name on the back identified the other child as BONNIE PACE. Virginia and Alice are my sisters (I have a different father) and I am trying to help them track down some of their family. They know nothing more about their family and there must be many members of this family out there somewhere. I have posted inquiries in several locations and no one seems to know anything. I am at a loss as to how to get through this brick wall I have run into. Any help would be appreciated.

I enjoyed your website. I have PACE ancestors from VA or GA. My lineage is:

STEPHEN PACE b.1775 in VA d. abt 1864. STEPHEN was m. to MARY BOHANNON 1798. Their son was JOHN PACE b. 1801 in NC m. MARY ANNE MCDANIEL 1825 in GA. Their daughter, MARY b.1828 d.1889 m. HENRY TERRELL NOLAND b.1825 d.1895. Children of MARY & HENRY were: WILLIAM b.1862/63 d.1910 in GA., HENRIETTA b.1854 in GA d.1907 in AL, ADA B. b.1858 in GA d. 1942, & STERLING b.1860 in GA. I'm searching for the missing children of STEPHEN & MARY & JOHN & MARY. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Mary Kay Chambers, 1378 Verga Ave. Westville, NJ 08093

In reply to Mary Kay Chambers query of 9/9/2000: I have that Stephen's wife was Judith Buchanan. Their children, in addition to John, were Mariah b. 1799, Nancy B. b. 1803, Stephen, Jr. b. 1805, Delphia b. 1806, Mary Jane b. 1808, Judith b. 1811, Solomon b. 1812, Hardy b. 1814, Salley b. 1817, Jacebel b. 1819 and William b. 1822. John's wife is shown as Jane on the 1850 census, b. 1810 GA. They married 6/7/1827 in Fayette Co, GA. Her name is shown as Jincey in the marriage record. John's family is on the 1840 and 1850 Heard Co, GA census. The only other child I have, besides Mary, for John and Jane is a son Maz, born 1828. The children of Stephen comes from pg 44 of Noble Hamilton Pace's book, from a Pace Bible record. I assume you already have the ancestry of Stephen Pace back to Richard Pace I of Jamestown. Gordon W. My grandfather, ALBERT LEWIS PACE was B. 09/1861 in Grant County, Indiana, M. to EMMA PARKS 01/15/1887 in Grant County, Indiana, D. 03/18/1920 and is buried in Jefferson cemetery Grant County, Indiana. My great-great-grandfather was JOSEPH PACE from Virginia as indicated on his son WILLIAM'S death certificate. As of this date I have not been able to find out a town or county in Virginia where JOSEPH or his son WILLIAM were from. The US Census of 1880 for Grant County, Indiana shows that WILLIAM had sons ELVERTON (22),JOHN (20), ALBERT LEWIS (17), and a daughter SARA (15). Any help regarding this WILLIAM J. PACE and JOSEPH PACE'S period in Virginia would be greatly appreciated. My email address is: Pacebeck@aol.com. My mailing address is: 5104 Foxridge Drive #2-B Mission, Kansas 66202-1548.

Sincerely, RICHARD LARRY PACE

This is in response to the query of Richard Larry Pace of 5/13/2000: Richard: Your great-grandfather, William J. Pace, is on the 1850 census of Madison Co, Fall Creek Twp, IN, page 120. The census record shows Joseph Pace age 46 VA, Jane age 47 OH, William James Pace 16, Virginia Pace 14, Robert Pace 12 and Jane F. Maris age 18 (relationship unknown) It doesn't show the birthplace of the children but the family may have been in Ohio briefly as that's where the mother was born. I have checked my records for Joseph Paces in Virginia and have come up with only two possibilities. A Joseph Pace was a son of John Pace b. 5/18/1751 in Henry Co, VA and his wife Elizabeth Nunn, m. 7/10/1772 Henry Co, VA. This Joseph had 11 siblings. The other is Joseph Pace b. prob. in Henry Co, VA, son of Newsom Pace b. 1754 Amelia Co, VA , d. 8/19/1845 Marshall Co, KY, m. Mary Polly Nunn b. 1766. They married in 1790 in Henry Co, VA. This Joseph had 7 siblings. The two fathers of these Josephs, Newsom and John are brothers and are sons of William Pace and Susannah West of Pittsylvania Co, VA. We can probably rule out the first Joseph as his mother would have been in her 50's when he was born. I don't know the spouse or children of the latter Joseph but some of his parents descendants are known to have settled in MO and IN, mostly by way of Marshall Co, KY. I will be doing some census work soon for early VA and hopefully can find more about your Joseph Pace. Gordon W. Pace

MIRA (PACE) NELSON e-mail: MIRANICK@AOL.COM 6905 Wilton Drive, Fort Worth, TX. 76133 (817)294-5565

I am just beginning to research my father's family and what little I know of the ancestors are as follows:

CHARLES PACE (my grandfather) b. Nov. 5, 1873 in Southwestern Iowa, d. Aug. 1967. Married ALATHA MOORE (I'm not certain of her surname) on Sept. 13, 1892 in Montrose Colorado. She was born about 1875 in Southwestern Iowa. She also died in 1967 and both died in Long Beach, California while living with a daughter.

After marriage, they engaged in ranching in Montrose, Crawford and Delta, CO. MR. PACE worked 17 years for the Holly Sugar Company in Delta.

ALATHA AND CHARLES PACE knew each other in Southwestern Iowa as Children. ALATHA moved to Montrose, CO. with her family when she was 11 years old (1886). CHARLES PACE followed with his family 4 years later (1890). They traveled to Colorado in covered wagons.

I do not know the names of CHARLES PACE's Father or Mother nor that of ALATHA. The U.S. census for 1880 only had one CHARLES PACE listed in Page County and he was listed as 7 years old, but he was listed as a nephew with the family of DAVISON, JEPTHA and ELLEN. There were no other counties with a CHARLES PACE listed that would have been the right age.

Children of CHARLES AND ALATHA were:

ROSE PACE VOICE, b. Nov. 1895 LUCY M. PACE, b. Sept. 1897 HARTSEL WESLEY PACE, b. July 28, 1900, Crawford, CO: d. June 22, 1966, Hemet, CA. ARTHUR E. PACE, b. March 19, 1911, d. July 1985, El Cerrito, CA. MARGUERITE PACE STEWART, b. unknown (This may be LUCY M. who went by her middle name ?)

I am the daughter of HARTSEL WESLEY PACE and would appreciate any information that anyone might have on this PACE family.

Alyce Sigite asked about the descendants of Demp Pace of Dent Co, MO, a great grandfather. Demp is Dempsey Cornwell Pace b. 8/23/1861 in Marshall Co, KY, d. 4/10/1947, m. Mary Elizabeth Watson. Dempsey recorded a land patent in Dent Co, MO on 6/4/1896. He was a son of John Pace b. 10/1816 KY and Mary Cornwell b. 1827 KY. Dempsey had 8 siblings. I have his ancestry back to the Virginia Paces of the 1600's.I do not know who Dempsey's children were, other than the Nellie that Alyce mentioned. Does anyone else on this list know his children?

I have been able to connect most of the Paces in Mississippi at the time of the 1850 Census. I can't seem to connect Sion Pace b. 1815 in TN and Ruel Pace b. 1817 in TN. They are shown in Tishomingo Co. (Northern border of Ms.and Ala. near Tenn.) living next to known descendants of Edmund Marion Pace. Abner J. Pace b. 1825 in TN is also living next to these families. The only other Pace family in the Tishomingo County at the time was Cornelius Pace who was a descendant of Burwell Pace. Does any one on the list know anything about these families?

His children included William C. Pace. I believe his father was MICHAEL PACE b. July 28, 1786 who resided with him in Warren Co., IL in 1850. He may have had a brother JOSEPH P. PACE b. Jan. 14, 1809. Does anyone have information on Francis, Micheal, William or Joseph?

AND REUBEN or RUEBEN. Most of the family moved to Illinois in the early 1800s. FRANCES' husband, WILLIAM R. JOHNSON was born in Albemarle Co., Virginia in approximately 1765. Do any of your records indicate the ancestors of this FRANCES (PACE) JOHNSON. Please note that I am not sure if FRANCES was my gggg grandmother's first name or a middle name that she used as her first name, especially after reviewing the information on your website relating to your descent from the PACE family and the apparently common use of the name FRANCES as a middle name.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Subject: AUGUSTUS PACE (b.abt 1876 in Mecklenburg Co., NC) Query

I am looking for information on AUGUSTUS PACE, who was 4 years old in the 1870 Mecklenburg, NC census, thus he was born around 1876. In 1898 he was living in Fort Mill, South Carolina, according to the estate records of his father YOUNG PACE (b.1832 in Guilford Co., NC). Young Pace had been apprenticed as an orphan in Guilford and later moved to Mecklenburg Co., NC, where he married NANCY WALLS, who is believed to have died there in 1888 at age 44, thus born in 1842. It is believed that NEEDHAM PACE was the brother of this YOUNG PACE, as they migrated together from Guilford to Mecklenburg Co., NC, taking with them an elderly ZILPHA/ZETHLA PACE (b.1798) and her retarded son DAVID. NEEDHAM PACE was married to MARY MARGARET MYERS of Mecklenburg NC and their children were Laura, Irvin, Sallie. The known siblings of AUGUSTUS PACE were CHARLES A.(c.1859), ABNER (c.1861-1900), MARY, FANNIE, and possibly a JOHN PACE. All of these were born in Mecklenburg Co., NC, and in 1898 all were still in that county of NC except for AUGUSTUS PACE who was living in Fort Mill, SC. I believe this family was related to my ABNER PACE (b.1821-22-d.aft. 1880) who had also been apprenticed as an orphan in 1837 in Guilford Co., NC. This Abner later moved to Rowan Co., NC, after having married in 1843 JULIA ANN REED (B.1823-1911) in Guilford. Abner Pace was a harness/carriage maker in Rowan, NC. His only child was JOHN FLETCHER PACE (1844-1901Rowan, NC), who was Police Chief of Salisbury, NC, at his death. My name is Margo Boles and I'm researching my Pace ancestors. My line is as

follows:

RICHARD - b. 157?,  GEORGE - b. 1609(?),  RICHARD - b. 1637, RICHARD - b. 1675, THOMAS - b. 1708, RICHARD, FRANCIS,  JOHN - b. 1749, MARTHA - b. 1782

My problem is between THOMAS and FRANCIS. I'm missing dates for RICHARD and FRANCIS and am not even sure there were the two of them. I have found this line from two different sources - one source shows everything as I have listed above - the second source shows the information from RICHARD (1572) through THOMAS but nothing further. I'm looking for dates and other info for THOMAS through JOHN to confirm the line. The rest of the line is as follows:

MARTHA (PATSY) PACE - b. 1782 m. BENJAMIN LANGFORD

SINIA LANGFORD - b. 1806 m. THOMAS J. GARDNER

ELLIS MILTON GARDNER - b. 1833 m. HARRIET RIDGE

SINAH ANN GARDNER - m. JAMES FRANKLIN MEEKS

ESSIE MEEKS - b. 1881 m. JAMES

The Pace Network is very interesting. My family is from Arkansas, and we come in all colors (obviously a lot of blood mixes). My grandfather was ANDREW PACE, Sons were WILLIAM, CURT, GRANT (those are the names I remember). They lived in the southern Arkansas area. I have reason to believe that there was also a mixture of Indian blood, but nothing specifically. The information I have is very sketchy because for some reason the older folks I talked with were embarrassed about their descendents. WILLIAM ROOSEVELT PACE (my father, was born in 1903-4, Camden, AR. area, he married BEATRICE M. PACE, in Pennsylvania, and to that union was born WILLIAM R. My connection is in Hickman County, Tennessee. My GrGr Grandmother was MARY EMELINE PACE, and she married WILLIAM M.C. THOMPSON in about 1849. I'm not certain of who her parents were, but strongly suspect that it was WILSON and MARY PACE. In the 1850 census, 22 y/o WILLIAM MC and 15 y/o MARY and 1 month old JOHN lived in the dwelling # immediately adjacent to 74 y/o WILSON and 50 y/o MARY and 20 y/o REEVES PACE. In addition, WILLIAM MC and MARY named their 1st child "JOHN WILSON", apparently after the 1st name of each grandfather. Still searching for the parents of William "Will" PACE who was killed in a mining accident in 1917, KY/VA. He married Lucy GREGORY in 1900, Clay Co., KY. Will is buried at the Union Cemetery, Laurel Co., KY. There are no birth/death records in KY (or death in VA). There are no records indicating relationships at the Clay/Laurel county courthouse. He is believed to have been orphaned and/or adopted at a young age, or he simply left home at an early age. He is first located in the 1800 Clay Co., KY Census as having been born in KY (and stating his parents were born in KY as well). I have combed the Clay, Laurel, Leslie, Perry, Knox and Harlan Counties, but have not found his parents. I fear the only string of evidence was lost in the1890 Census.

I am interested in finding out whether ALFRED E. PACE and ALBERT G. PACE were closely related. ALFRED E. PACE was born in Kentucky (or possibly Arkansas) in 1824. His father was TWITTY PACE who was born in 1796 in Kentucky (or possibly South Carolina). In 1860, ALFRED E. PACE lived in Bonham, Fannin County, Texas.

ALBERT G. PACE was born in 1826 in Alabama. In 1860, he lived in Hunt County, Texas (which is adjacent to Fannin County). Alfred named one of his sons "Albert."

I am researching civil war history in north Texas, and the two Paces were rather prominent. Alfred served as a brigadier general of Texas state troops. Albert served as a captain in the 22d Texas Cavalry, C.S.A.

I would like to ask the input of Bruce Howard, Roy Johnson and others on this question: How is ISAAC PACE of GA descended from GEORGE PACE of Jamestown?

From information on the Pace Network, from the Pace Society and correspondence it appears the lineage may be as follows:

1. George Pace b 1609 m SARAH MAYCOCK
2. RICHARD PACE II b 1638 VA m MARY (KNOWLES) BAKER
3. JOHN PACE SR b 1668 VA m ELIZABETH LOWE
4. GEORGE PACE II b 1694 VA m OBEDIENCE WOODLIEF
5. JAMES PACE b 1722 m Edgecombe Co, NC m ?
6. WILLIAM PACE SR b 1750 Franklin Co, NC m RUTH LAMBERT?
7. ISAAC PACE b 1798 Clark Co, GA m (1) unknown, (2) RACHEL BAGGETT

Bruce has shown ELIZABETH LOWE m. to JOHN's brother JAMES (who I show as married to SARAH EPPES). I have heard that JOHN PACE's will of 1727 (proven in Bertie Precinct) shows children as: GEORGE, JOHN JR, FRANCIS, ELIZABETH, MARY, ANN, WILLIAM. Is this GEORGE PACE the one who married OBEDIENCE WOODLIEF?

My question is in regard to SILAS PACE, born about 1744, son of RICHARD 2PACE and ELIZABETH CAIN. Is this the SILAS that married MARY NEWSOME? There are references in "History of the Pace Family", 1995, that the SILAS PACE that married MARY NEWSOME was the son of CHARLES PACE, born about 1738, who was the son of RICHARD PACE and ELIZABETH CAIN. Can anyone help me with the children of SILAS PACE and MARY NEWSOM?

Subject: Elizabeth Pace Marriage to John Casey

I'm a Casey/Pace descendant via JOHN CASEY's marriage to ELIZABETH PACE, who was the daughter of BARNABUS PACE (or Barnabas? have seen both ways) b. 1747 and his first wife, AGNES AYCOCK. John Casey is mentioned in Barnabas' will. I'm told that John and Elizabeth are buried in the Casey family cemetery at Gillsville, Banks Co., Georgia, and that John Casey is also the brother of Barnabus' second wife, MARY CASEY.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with interest in the John Casey/Elizabeth Pace marriage, and their descendants, and to find a 2complete list of their progeny, supposedly about 11 total. (Won't include the list I was given at this time since they're Caseys, not Paces; however, if anyone is interested, be glad to share.)

Also, does anyone have further verification about Mary Casey Pace's background, and whether Casey was her maiden name, or married name from a previous marriage? Thanks.

Subject: Issac Pace b. 1798 GA.

I am a descendant of EDITH PACE born in 1828, TN. EDITH is the daughter of ISSAC PACE b. 1798 GA, and his first wife (name unknown). I know that there were at least three other children belonging to ISSAC not listed living with him on the 1850 Perry Co. census. These children were ISSAC PACE b. 1823 in TN., BEADY (OBEADIANCE) PACE b. 1826, and my gggrandmother EDITH PACE b. 1828 in Perry Co.

EDITH PACE married WILLIAM LEWIS HUCKABEE sometime in 1949 because they are listed with their eldest child JONATHAN in the Perry County 1850 census.

The children of WILLIAM and EDITH PACE HUCKABEE are: JONATHAN b. 1849, JOHN REEVES b.02 Dec 1850 TN, JAMES WILSON b. 30 Mar1851 TN, WILLIAM ISSAC b. 22 Nov 1852 TN, ROBERT ALLEN b. 26 Feb 1855 TN, MARGRET REBECCA ANN b. 12 Feb 1857 TN, WILLIAM LEWIS b. 25 Nov 1862 AR, KINCHEN NEWTON b. 3 July 1865 AR, and PLEASANT THOMAS b. 2 Apr1871 AR.

I know from Perry County they moved to Randolph Co., Arkansas where WILLIAM LEWIS HUCKABEE enlisted in the Confrderate Army on 19 July 1862 at Camp Adams, Randolph County, Arkansas. He enlisted with his brothers JAMES H. and JOHN F. HUCKABEE. We then find EDITH and WILLIAM in Jackson Co. in the 1870 census. In 1880 the family is found in Searcy Co., Ark. There are two more boys added to the family, FRANCIS HARRY and JAMES H. HUCKABEE, however they were nephews to WILLIAM, the sons of his dead brother JAMES H.

FRANCIS HARRY, JAMES H, AND JAMES WILSON HUCKABEE all died within six months of each other of the "slow fever" 1878, Searcy Co., ARK.

EDITH PACE HUCKABEE died 17 Jun 1904, and WILLIAM LEWIS HUCKABEE died 29 Nov 1912. All of the above are buried at WATTS Cemetary, near Marshall in Searcy Co. ARK.

EDITH'S brother ISSAC PACE married a woman named MARY (last name unknown). They had three children. They moved to Polasky Co., Ark and can be found there on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 census. ISSAC PACE was a methodist minister.

EDITH'S sister BEADY PACE married a STARBUCK and they lived in Lawrence Co., Missouri.

I believe the father ISSAC (also found ISOM & ISSA) may have died in Perry County because RACHAEL and the two youngest girls MARY AND ELIZABTH PACE are found in Perry Co's 1860 census without the eldest ISSAC.

I would dearly love to know the name of ISSAC's first wife, mother to EDITH. I would also like a date of marriage for ISSAC and RACHAEL so that we might determine which mother the children belonged to.

The 1840 Perry Co., lists a very old woman living with ISSAC, who was she?

The 1850 Perry Co, census lists a JEREMIAH and ELIZABETH PACE, does any one know the relationship, if any, to ISSAC and his family?

I would be glad to share any and all information that I have. My home address is 2313 Purvis Avenue, Clovis, Ca. 93611. I truly appreciate any and all consideration my query has received. Thank you for this wonderful forum, maybe we can all find our paths back to Richard, ha!.

New query on Italian Pace Page about Paces in Spurgola, Italy - 3/5/99

This is not a Pace query. However, I thought it was a most worthwhile cause, and maybe there are some "old soldiers" among the Paces who could help this man find his father:

Does anyone remember this person? We don't know his name. We know, however, that he was serving with the US Army in 1945/46 in Germany. He was stationed near Darmstadt, Germany, and had friends at nearby Jugenheim. There was a unit of the Quartermaster School located in this place. He is my natural father and should be about 75 - 80 years of age. I was born in 1947 and was adopted by German parents. Only after my birthmother´s death I learned that my birthfather is US citizen. Fortunately, there exists a photo showing my anonymous birthfather, and I'm pinning my entire hope on someone who might recognize him and tell me his name and address. Subj: 1790 CENSUS - ROWAN COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA - PACE or BACE

E-Mail:
- BETTY PACE

The typed internet version of the ROWAN COUNTY (NC) 1790 Census shows a Henry BACE, but I suspect it should read HENRY PACE. This is entry order 1286 on that census, and there are 9 individuals shown (no slaves).

I have searched US Gen Web for any other mention of a BACE in NC, but nothing turned up except that one census. Either all 9 people have gone to another state, or disappeared, OR THIS NAME SHOULD BE HENRY PACE.

I contacted web owners, who referred me to others, who referred me to others, finally the last e-mail bouncing for incorrect address. I don't seem to be having any luck finding the original or custodian of this old document to check for ink blots, tears in paper, etc.

One person has suggested that the Germans in Rowan Co. NC at that time used a B and a P interchangeably. Perhaps the census taker was German, as there were many German families in ROWAN at that time.

Does anyone have an idea about how to check into this? Please reply to me directly as I am not on-line at the moment, but do have e-mail Betty A. Pace 7305 Granby St. Norfolk, VA 23505 (757) 489-1849 bapace2@juno.com

Dear Mr. Johnson,

I have one lonely little PACE on my family tree. Where do I start????

MARTHA PACE. Based upon the birthdates of her children (oldest in 1889, youngest in 1900) I estimate her d.o.b to be somewhere between 1860-1874, but probably around 1868-1870 or so. Her first child was born in ASHLEY COUNTY, AR but in later years, most of her children lived in NE LOUISIANA (UNION, MOREHOUSE, RICHLAND parishes).

Where MARTHA PACE herself was born, I have no idea. I have not even the smallest scrap of information about her parents or siblings.

She married SEBASTIAN CABOT "Doc" STANLEY and had at least the following children:

JETTIE STANLEY b. 1889
KELLY CAMERON STANLEY b. 1891
JACK SEBASTION STANLEY b. ?
MARY STANLEY b. ?
CHARLIE STANLEY b. ?
MONA STANLEY b. 1900

I haven't found any of the STANLEY clan, nor any PACE families on census records.
I would ask if anyone might have any MARTHA PACE who might fit?

Thank you,
Amy Seymour

Subj: WILLIAM FRANKLIN PACE ... Date: 99-01-04 ... E-Mail: - BILL PACE
From: bill_pace@qmailgw.gar.esys.com -

I previously sent a query about WILLIAM THOMAS PACE in WASHINGTON, FRANKLIN CO, MO. I have just received a certified copy of my Grandfather's death certificate and discovered that his middle name was FRANKLIN and not THOMAS. According to the death certificate, his father's name was GRIFFIN PACE and his mother's last name (maiden) was RIGGS. I realize that this information on the death certificate may not be accurate but it seems like a good starting point. I found some postings on one of your pages from DEBBIE PACE DAVIS and your response to her. My grandfather is the one you mentioned who was born in 1866. He died in 1951. According to my uncle (his only other child besides my father), my grandfather was born in VA in 1866. A possible inaccuracy of the death certificate is that it says my grandfather was born in CENTERTOWN, MO. I have ordered a copy of his birth certificate from VA and am eagerly waiting for it.

If you have any other information, I would be very grateful.
